Please do not attack me for stating my personal opinion. This is meant only for discussion.

Before 'Joanne', I was sure that I was really here for Gaga bringing her voice to the front this time and really putting the visuals and everything that went along with her brand in the back seat.

Anyone could've really predicted this drastic change following 2014 and I was actually sure I was ready for it.

Now that 'Joanne' is released and we can pretty much tell what it has to bring to the table music wise and era wise- I am somewhat disappointed in myself for just not...feeling it.

Which brings me back to the question I had to ask myself before the release of the album- "Am I really into just Gaga's voice? Is that enough?"

And when I look at it now...no, it's not enough. It probably was never just the voice, for me with Gaga.

But then again...I was very here for just Gaga's talent when Cheek To Cheek was released or when she performed at The Oscars in 2015 or even just her simple acoustic performances in previous years. So what makes the 'Joanne' era any different? Well my personal answer to this is that even those eras had, what I call, the Gaganess in them. I think the easiest way to define it is her constant intention to make things interesting and different whether it was the outfits, wigs, hidden messages, song structures and overall visuals.

In a way, I feel like the 'Joanne' era is a total sell-out. An era that conforms to the norms. "Here is the simple me. Just me and my voice" which is not necessarily a bad thing but as I said, I realized that I am not here for this type of Gaga. There will be ones who will hurry and say: "You are putting her in a box!!1 you're not a real fan" but I was actually very here for this type of era and all I'm stating is that it's simply not enough for me, personally.

I am not trying to be negative and Gaga will always be my #1 but 'Joanne' is currently my least favorite Gaga album/era so far and I don't see it improving. Was the 3 years wait worth it for me? Absolutely no.

Do you feel the same way?

:flop:

I never said Gaga is not good enough for me. I said that her voice is simply not good enough for me, in the Joanne record that is.

Of course I don't like her exclusively because of her voice, it's a mix of things, the voice, the music, the performances and of course her personality. But I don't feel as disappointed with this era as you are... Sure that I'd rather have more visually stunning and creative performances, more high-budget iconic music videos and more crazy outfits but I like how she's trying something totally different for Joanne. This is really what she wants to do right now, and we have to enjoy the era because it's never gonna be the same. I'm pretty sure CrazyGa will be back in a few years, she did say she wanted to "explode into her thirties".

When you put it that way, it sounds even worse. Yikes.

To quote an article ...

"Lady Gaga ushered us into the uniqueness within pop music and she also ushers us out"

What I love about Gagz is that she constantly changes. The results may vary but as for now I'm glad of what she has done. Will I appreciate her next phase? I don't know. But I loved BTW, I liked ARTPOP, I fell in love w/ C2C and I'm living for Joanne. So probably yes

You're entitled to your opinion. I kind of agree with the visuals, but I think her voice is still amazing at times, but sometimes she does that weird accent and it sounds unpleasing.

The performance art and gorgeous videos were definitely the main things that got me into loving Gaga, but the fact that she had a kick ass voice was also quite a significant part as well :laughga: I don't run to watch the performances for the visuals anymore but I do run to watch them for her voice  It would be more fun for me if there was both but even her voice is more than enough for me to tune in :flutter:
