this is very significant thought - because it shows that users are listening to (basically) the entire album and not just the singles. Hail Joanne!

This means nothing though, it's just her top songs right now. Her older songs have a lot more spins, obviously.

Also, she has 0/50 songs on top 50... Meaning very few young people are listening to her at the moment. (Compared to other artists.) The top list is heavily influenced by popular playlists though, and Joanne isn't very mainstream playlist friendly...

Of course there are mainstream songs or songs for the mass, just because it isn't dance-pop it doesen't mean it's not for playlists or radios, i say > Million Reasons, A-YO, Dancin' In Circles, John Wayne and some others

Streaming is accessible to many people around the world, and a more accurate measure/reflection of listens/plays.

And people will listen to other songs from the album.

Well how can you compare a song that was released in 2010, for example, with one that premiered last month? Of course "Perfect Illusion" can't have more streams than "Bad Romance" even if it was the hit of the year.

I don't think she's making music for the young crowd (by that I mean pre-teens and teens) that much anymore. Joanne is definitely for the older listeners (mid 20's and up) :gaycat:

How much does this actually affect the charts?

Every 1,500 streams of a single song off of Joanne counts as an equivalent album unit sold. I did the statistics and so far there's an average of about 2,500,000 streams for each song. That equates to about 18,000 extra albums sold. In addition to her TEA (track equivalent album units which are calculated by every 10 songs from an album purchased count as one equivalent album unit sold) which is at about 12,000 extra albums sold.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. My point was that the top list is the songs that are most popular right now, and it would be very sad if 2010 songs where streamed more than her newest ones, even album tracks, in the release week.

A lot of people seem to think that the songs on the top of each artists means more than «popular/trending now».

On kworb, under the "Artists" tab, why are her streaming numbers so dismal?  It's the low streaming numbers that have been keeping her from topping this chart for the past several days:
