The song is too good to pass up! It's pop, dance, tropical, country-ish here and there, Latin in some parts... It's a SMASH record.

Because it's slightly tropical? Dancin' In Circles is also pop meets country meets latin meets tropical, none of those songs have that quality. That's why I feel it's truly a gem and can't be passed up. It's a unique song.

Not only tropical, but they all have the exact same beat. Don't get me wrong, DIC is an incredible song, but I'm just disagreeing with you about it being 'different' than top 40, when two songs in the past two months had the same sound.

Plus, DIC has zero country influence in it. lol

I love that record (PI) but let's face it, Joanne isn't a "safe" record anyway. Safe would've been a predictable Max Martin pop album. Gaga has never played it completely safe.

3.) Play it in a car. This kinda goes with tone, but one question I use as a barometer for whether a song will be successful or not with the GP is this: "If you played this in a car with kids, would they enjoy it and not know something's up?" For Rihanna and S&M, that's largely the case. For The Weeknd and Earned It, that's largely the case. Most American children, however, if they heard DiC on the radio, would instantaneously know what she's really saying. Radio prefers sex in their music as little blueberries in a muffin, not the muffin itself. DiC is a sex muffin.

It's got a up-beat country-ish funk to it here and there I think, haha! Also "tap down those boots while I beat around". In my imaginary video for the song I see her with a hay straw in her mouth, some cowboy boots, dancing around in a saloon. Maybe a flamenco type of dress in there and some castanets also. And a steamy love-scene with a hot, dark, slightly-bearded cowboy on top of the saloon bar during the breakdown  

I'm 99.9% sure it would smash TBH. It's a smash record. Beck did GOOD.

Thanks for the insight. But I don't think children enjoyed Earned It...  Plus, it's much easier for children to understand the meaning of 'I touch myself' than 'Let's funk downtown'. Idk, I'm sure after 20 years the GP should be more than ready for a masturbation anthem that is darker and edgier.

Obvious sexual songs, MTV banned the videos, radiostations refused to play it before a certain hour or gave it no spins at ALL.
