Don't blame the critics

I agree on you with people having the right to dislike the album, but you can make percentages on how much they write about her music and how much they do about her image.

None of you find it important to put her career in context? She's a cultural phenomenon there's so much to talk about. I don't disagree with what everyone's saying I disagree with what SOME people are saying.

No. It's about her music, not her career.

My issue is that every review is saying that this album is a dishonest and calculated response to the 'failures' of ARTPOP. It's slander. It's assumption, and it's a blatant lie used to paint Gaga and this album in a negative light. Criticize the music all you want but the moment you call Gaga a character trying on masks, on this album of all things, it's insulting.

Agree. They act like they know how Gaga feels. If she says she feels disconnected socially, you can't say "no, you dont."

it's actually an opinion, not slander.

Like C2C was a "move" to show she has vocal chops, ditto with the oscars and the national anthem.

The article you're referring to actually said she was wearing a mask of her own face which is them saying they don't find the lyrics as intimate as they were intended to be

Her career as.... a musician?

No. They are reviewing an album, not a career path.

And like I acknowledged of course some people do that - but a lot of LMs ignore legitimate musical criticisms and you can't say that isn't true

If the album doesn't feel genuine they would have to give a reason why, correct?

Their reasoning in this instance can only be discussed if you discuss her career... Any time someone does an article or a review you have to put things in context I'm sorry if you disagree.

I'd be fine with critics not liking the music, but a lot of the people who are giving her super low scores are clearly just not here for her.

Like I said the NYT guy absolutely is doing what you said.. But some of the mixed scores are being criticized and it's so whiny of people to stomp their feet and shout about how unfair life is

Dorothy Gale

The problem is that if this album was given to a different artist the scores would undoubtedly be higher.

Okay except if she was beyonce this album would be getting 80+ reviews :rip:

Honestly these white gays are always trying to discredit her. What does she have to do with Gaga? It's borderline sexist to even bring her up in this
