I honestly dont get it. Can someone explain to me what is wrong with this album that its getting so many mixed/bad reviews? I feel like its her best work to date.

Because, for example, the NY Times review is a critique of Gaga herself from the view of someone who clearly doesn't like her rather than of the music. It's extremely unprofessional.

Based off 3 reviews, and the Telegraph review is very positive.

I'd be happy with 70+ at this point. I think some of these reviewers need to give the album a few more plays.

Absolutely this. There are just some people who really seem to hate her and just live to draaaag her.

Im hopeful the reviews are going to get better because I honestly feel like this is such a beautiful album and deserves epic praise. Not going to speculate on the eventual score because I'm scared for the good sis Joanne.

Me 24 hours ago: 91+

Me now: 70+  :sharon:

So your opinion changes according to other people tastes in music? :awkney:

Then you must love LEMONADE.

For me, the true value of the album is the multiple genre blending she brought to pop music again. In a world where dancehall leads, and where the Chainsmokers are acclaimed, a New York girl comes with a classic-retro but still modern album with such personal experiences portrayed in emotional and fantastic songs.

I would give it an 80 :golfclap:

I'm gonna wait for more reviews to come in before I freak out, but I'm a little disappointed right now. I honestly thought Joanne was going to get amazing reviews. I wasn't expecting a 95 or anything, but at least a solid 80.

My opinion of the album would still be 91+, but my expectations of its Metacritic score have gone down. Read the OP

Where do you think it'll peak at?

IMO, nearly perfect album, and I will stand by it until I'm a freaking rotted corpse :firega:

"Metascore is a weighted average in that we assign more importance, or weight, to some critics and publications than others, based on their quality and overall stature. In addition, for music and movies, we also normalize the resulting scores (akin to "grading on a curve" in college), which prevents scores from clumping together."

I think it'll end in the high 60's.
