PaperIz 7,346
Hey guys! Before I start, let me say you're allowed to dislike Joanne, but I have some thoughts! So last year Miley Cyrus released her album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz and it was a shock to many of us! I have been a fan of her since Hannah Montana and the music from the album was as far from Hannah as you can imagine, but I gave it a chance and I love the record. Now if you told me during even the Bangerz era that I'd enjoy an album like Dead Petz as much or more than her previous material, I'd be in shock. But I do. Next, Owl City. This year he has been releasing orchestral scores every month based on historical events and they're some of the most amazing records I've ever heard and I'm glad he's doing what he's doing. It's opened my mind and ears to a whole other world of music, same as Miley. Now we come to Joanne. Lady Gaga is experimenting with new music and new genres and producers that I never would have thought she would dabble in when I became a fan of her, but that doesn't mean the music has to be bad. Even if you're not a fan of the genres that she's delving in, I ask you to just give it a chance. Most of you hear "country" and you're out. But just allow yourself to listen to the music and think of how passionate Gaga is about this project and maybe let it open your musical horizons to brand new world's of music you never knew you could enjoy. I'm just giving examples of my other faves releasing new music that is so opposite from anything else and showing its possible to like those releases. So just give Joanne a chance. Music is such a wonderful thing, don't let a concept such as "genre" define what you can and can't like. That's all. Totally agree!! Gaga is forever changing. You have to deal with Joanne or move on (if you really can't at least give it a try). None of Gaga's albums sound the same. Even TF and TFM has different choice of synth sound and has different sonic experience. Gaga can't be defined by a genre. If you have to, it's pop. Let's face it Jazz is Pop too. Loyalty 3,904
Most of us are here for it anyways there's only some who aren't. But they'll be running back once we demolish the Grammys in 2018.
AlexanderMagno 10,746
I agree with you, but honestly I don't think that's the issue. And apparently lots of people have the same argument, but truthfully I don't think fans who don't like her new music are not "musically open-minded". Some just don't like the music itself. It's not about "I don't like country", it's about "I don't think this song is that special or that good". And that already goes beyond the genre. Just my opinion of course, I can't read anyone's mind, but it's not about the genre, it's just about not finding the song good or attractive and that is fine, I wish everyone here wouldn't massacrate those who don't like Gaga's new music assuming they are not open-minded about it. They just don't like it... Why should we be worried about it?

People should appreciate the fact that she puts her heart and soul into everything she does and be grateful that she does something new each time! Open up to new ideas and possibilities, I sure wasn't a big fan of jazz music but when Tony and Gaga released Cheek 2 Cheek, Jazz is one of my favourite genres now lol. sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi

Lava 3,571
I'm happy with anything she does, I remember when she did Cheek to Cheek, I was like "um... what is this.." but I listened to it and LOVED it! When I heard Sinner's Prayer at the Dive Bar I was just like "oh dear god..." But as she played it, I thought it wasn't half bad. And after hearing the studio version's snippet, I like it. The entire album shouldn't be looked at based off of a single song that has a country-pop vibe. For ****'s sake, if you were true fans you would support her with everything she's doing. Not saying you have to like the album, but you should support her.

xoxo cupcakke 4,781
Tbh, Björk is the gateway drug into really expanding your musical horizons, but I also think JOANNE will help a lot of Monsters realize there's more to music than just the pop queendoms
Lucas 27,198
I absolutely agree. People are stuck in the same genre usually. I used to be the same, always wanting to listen to only pop. Just try things and you might discover even more amazing genres, artists and songs. I love Million Reasons and I don't get the hate just because it's country/ballad
Guest
Growing up with Gaga's music was a true experience. She literally was the best teacher I ever had even though I never met her personally, face-to-face. Because of her, my taste in music developed from superficial radio-pop to deep, meaningful, quality-music. I learned that my taste is not limited to a specific genre of music. You can love K-Pop but also rock-ballads from the 70s you know. Thanks to her for allowing myself to be receptive. Never thought I'll love Jazz someday. Now I do. Katsuki Bakugo 9,788
People are guilty of putting Gaga in a box. I say, give the album a try first then decide. After you listened to it all the way through with no skips at least 5 times... then you may have a decision formed on the matter. But thats my view. If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses.
Fernster7 7,923
I never thought Gaga was ever going to go in this direction and here I am thinking Joanne is probably going to be her best album ever. Monsters never die.
