androiduser 7,438
sounds like a light mix of country, soul and rock, but the songwriting is very pop

It really throws back to the same "roots" that Country branched from. I hear some blues, I hear some southern soul, I hear some rock, I hear yes a *little* bit of country and folk especially in the Nashville performances. This is pop music with a roots music soul. Pop isn't defined by autotuned EDM, and just because music has acoustic guitar doesn't make it Country. what I'm hearing though, whatever genre you want to try to pin it as, is fantastic so far. I love that she introduced herself in Nashville as "Lady Gaga, a singer/songwriter from New York." Because that is her core, whether it's a simple piano performance or Paparazzi at the VMA's. Exactly! But unfortunately a lot of people don't seem to get it. The only girl I've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes
REALITY 76,234
Thank you! There is definitely some country influence, but it's much more than that. I honestly hear more rock than country. Yes, she's said the album will have country inspiration here and there, but she's also expressed numerous times that this is a pop record. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

HighwayFantasy 2,015
If somebody told me 2 years ago Gaga would do her first mini-tour for her new album in this spot.... I just can't enjoy this whole era so far, i don't like country and the stripped down Gaga. I think its time for me to move on and let go my obsession with Gaga. I admire her artistry and work during the previous albums, but i just don't recognize her anymore. She was so creative for such a long time, her black leather avant garde high fashion theatrical performances where the sh*t! Ah well, time has changed me maybe, or time changed Gaga. I don't know... That's the most country sounding. I don't have a Diamond Heart.
lavenderblondee 3,695
I would never call what I heard last night pop. MR had pop vibes but SP and AYO have no elements of pop to me at all.
Adrichien 0
I think it's due to the location (Nashville) and the fact that it's live versions. I guess we shouldn't be worried about the studio versions that will sound more 'normal', at least A-YO. This song especially will sound way less country in my opinion! (+ Gaga, Mark, etc. said this wasn't a country album but a pop album influenced by all the genres that Gaga knows and masters)
Gemini 53
Does it really matter what it's labeled as though? You either like it or you don't and people disappointed because they don't want her to make country are just thinking too hard about it. Its not electro dance music, that much is clear. memomemome 1,478
I'm fine if she labeled as country or whatever the genre. So then she can be nominated in that genre and use it as Stan war weapon "when will ur fave?"
Brooke Hoegan 1,018
Well, Million Reasons is very country. Don't delude yourself. It sounds like something Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert would write / sing. Not that it's bad, it's just a fact.

LaLuna 12,732
It may not be Dolly Parton or Willie Nelson country, but there's no denying that Millions Reasons, while being pop at its core, has country influences.
