For those of you who don't understand the magnitude of this announcement - this means in our lifetimes we're going to witness humankind go from a single planetary exsistence to a multiplanetary existence! We're colonizing the solar system!

Yea, they said the same thing about the moon. It's been 50 years since we first visited, and no dice.

I hope this is true, though.

I think it will take at least another 30-50 years after making first contact on Mars to actually colonize it.

But it's so amazing to think that we could witness the colonization of f*cking Mars :excited2:

Isn't this the same company that can barely get a rocket into space without it malfunctioning or blowing up?!  :awkney:

I don't really find it all that exciting that astronughts are going to be sent to live on Mars 🙄 that is, after all, what they train constantly for.

It won't happen with the current technology we have, there are technical hurdles currently unsolved of protecting humans from the radiation levels they would be exposed to in deep space. It's unfortunate because I'd love to be alive to see humankind step foot on Mars.
