I don't think the NFL looks at how many hits an artists has or if the artist recently has any hits (Beyonce, Madonna, The Who, Prince, The Rolling stones ect.). As long as the artist is a huge name or legend, and very famous, then you are eligible to perform. Gaga definitely fits this category. After all she still is possibly the most famous modern artist in the world. Also is still very likely that she will be the performer since the NFL did not deny it and they always evade info leaks until they officially want to announce the performer. But the "sources" for US weekly said she signed on. So if the NFL is saying they haven't made any decisions, either the NFL or the sources are lying. lol. They really refuted the information that Gaga was the one. All we know is she might be part of the considerations, but we always know that every year, it's Gaga. It's still months away, they denied Katy was performing back then too when the rumor are getting crazy that she got paid to do it and told the press tge same diplomatic things they did now, but look what happened. Since Gaga started the promo for PI everybody's talking and asking question about the Super bowl: I have the impression pretty much everybody in the business knows directly or from sources that she is very likely going to perform, and they are dying to be the first to spread the news to the world, some discretely (Billboard: "there are strong possibilities Gaga is performing" says source, which is a way to say "it's almost done") and some directly, which is this case. Again, maybe I am wrong, but I have noticed in the past that "Nothing is confirmed" means "Yes, but it's too soon" most of the time. Fingers crossed.
