and you know this information how? :oprah: you heard only one song, Perfect Illusion, and you determined a whole album because of that? :oprah:

She said in the beats interview a few days back that she said she was backing off the mainstream for a bit.

She is not a living legend. Paula Abdul and Kylie Minogue are more legendary at this point. She needs this era to slay with some major hits, or she will be remembered as a relic from 08-11 who does jazz covers.

i meant it as an opinion, my bad

Aren't Bloodpop and Mark Ronson trendy producers? Sounds like excuses tbh.

Does PI sound like anything they have done before

Oh please, when Perfect Illusion was released you were all freaking excited because it was #1 on iTunes or something like that, there were a dozen threads about how Perfect Illusion would slay the radios and climb to the top of the charts, even if slowly... And now it's all about "Gaga doesn't care about the charts, this album is not for the charts"? This is why this fanbase aka people around here are so annoying.

If you really didn't care about the charts there wouldn't be so many threads about it, trying to excuse PI lack of impact (for now!) and Joanne's possible flop performance.

I think we will all enjoy this era much more if we don't care about charts

They never mattered

How so many people need to read this and understand it

Every artist dreams of having their music heard by many. What's the point of putting out music that certain demographic can only appreciate? I find that rather selfish and reckless approach. So yes, it's for the chart, as it should be.

Music shouldn't be designed just to sell though.

Guys I know I'm new but let's be real....she doesn't NEED the charts anymore.  She's beyond them.  Marry the Night, GUY, You and I, Till It Happens To You and all her jazz songs flopped on the charts, yet she's still the #1 artist, the most respected, the most anticipated and the one who has the other girls SHOOK.  It's all about that, she doesn't need anything else.  She already cemented her status as  a CULTURAL ICON, and this album will just show her artistry and that will propel her into legend status.  Don't worry, Mother Monster will be fine :)

I'm legit sick of the pissing-match that chart placements have become... if she says she doesn't care, then cool? And if fans have that much of a problem about it, we should do our part and get to requesting/streaming and buying?? By the looks of it her promo tour has begun, it's partially in our hands to see PI become a success.

Tbh the only reason I want PI to be a hit is bcos nowadays Chart success = Grammy awards for pop records, which is totally BS imo. If the grammys were to go back to actually awarding real art, 1989 wouldn't have won album of the year, and Katy Perry wld literally have 0 grammy noms.

If the grammys invite her to perform for the 2017 ceremony but NOT nominate PI/Joanne in 2017 & 2018 respectively, then i'm gonna be so mad.
