Except for a ton of bugs here and there (I joined on a server, and no one had any type of weapon ), it's still really good actually. If not I can list you so many games, just tell me what is the genre you're interested in. Also you don't really need to buy them They can't scare me, if I scare them first. And anyway he might not like MOBAs since role playing games and strategy games are very dissimilar genres. Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul are similar to WOW but have their own twists. Black Desert online is similar but different aswell but you need to buy it once for $40. It's like a 3rd person shooter, hack n slash and classic MMORPG combined. But it's better if you start with a friend.. playing solo gets frustrating at one point. There's a matchmaking system with other players though but it's hard getting a squad all the time. And contrary to popular belief, you don't need money to play it. Not really. It's definitely smooth for a MOBA compared to the clunky and frustrating DOTA 2 but HotS is definitely not LoL. Far more team focused and so much more casual. There's differences in how maps work, how champions work, "farming" which is essential in LoL and it is part of the player's skill whereas in HotS there's only the xp part of it and you don't even need to do anything to get it besides being in lane and randomly attacking minions or some ****. I'd say that if you want to go the MOBA route and want a challenge, go for LoL. If you're casual, go for HotS.
