Era? No.

Album sales (in accordance with charts)? No.

General album sales? Possibly.

Maybe the rest of us will get more tour dates though, because she won't be able to go there lol #justicefortheUK

Gaga's not banned in China. It's a media hype.

And even if she was, it wouldn't matter. No youtube, no iTunes, no Spotify. CDs need approval before being released, and are heavily censored. China is a very small music market. Maybe it will become one of the bigger touring markets in the future.

Considering that Gaga had never visited China in 8 years of her career, I feel like she was probably already banned but no one had publicly said anything. I doubt it will have an impact. If her album is officially sold there, fans will still buy it.

It might help her in Japan though because Japan and China dont get along really well and Japan is on the side of Tibet. Its something she may have considered. Japan is huge market for her, probably only second to the U.S.

She's never sold there and they sell fake CDs so it's not a problem for her to be banned there.

That's so not true. Gaga, Adele and Taylor Swift are the biggest pop stars in China. China sells licensed CDs in stores, it's very difficult to find fake CDs these days. The other story is that Chinese people prefer to stream music on QQ Music (Chinese Spotify). Even though she is allegedly banned in China, her whole catalogue is available on every legal streaming platform in China. My boyfriend works at the radio station My FM 88.0, they report news about Gaga, including news about Perfect Illusion. So much for being "banned".

P.S. I live in China.

Japan a.k.a. the country that awarded ARTPOP as one of three best international albums of 2013 and also added ARTPOP to their library of mandatory music/art study thing :queenga:
