Which is why I think Gaga will get hers later. Yes, Bad Romance and Telephone both impacted pop culture and rightfully won awards at the 2010 VMAs. That doesn't mean she is automatically entitled to the Vanguard award. No videos from the BTW or ARTPOP era have had the same sort of impact and she needs to have a couple more stellar videos before she's even considered. They shouldn't even give this award out every year, only when somebody is truly deserving of it. Whilst Rihanna does have a good videography, it's obvious a major factor of them giving it to her is guaranteeing her attendance. After last years tragic guest list I think they'll do anything they can to get as many A-listers there as possible. MJ Vanguard award is also known as Lifetime Achievement Award, so they don't give it out to someone who had more videos in the past years, than someone else. Quantity /=/ quality, and they know that.
