Social Justice Warrior logic in a nutshell.

Why her and not willam? I think you'll find it was pretty difficult for Willam to go/be in Dubai as well. He even commented about it whilst posting about Gigi's situation. Was it unwise? Sure...but this is in NO way her fault, and I Implore you to condemn the actions of these airport officials before anything else. This is a huge reach sis. The two situations are completely different. A rape victim never knows before hand if they're getting raped nor can they be prepared. But a transgender visiting a middle eastern country could have at least asked about the laws there to prevent anything happening. It's the LAW. This is not about the law being morally right, which it isn't. This is about how Gigi could have prevented the situation (I mean... They murder gays in the middle east. Did she think she'd be off the hook for looking like a woman or being famous? Thank goodness it's dubai and not somewhere else.) On the opposite hand, a rape victim can NOT in any way predict or prevent rape, whether they're wearing a thong or a burqa. chaeri pls

The argument that any of this is because of Gigi's ignorance to the law is completely irrelevant to this discussion. The first and only thing any of us should be doing is condemning the discriminatory laws and the actions of the airport officials. The comparison is hardly a reach - in many places (the middle east especially) it is illegal to dress provocatively, and women who do so are often raped. The logic that "they shouldn't have been doing that in the first place" is WRONG. And we have a moral obligation as a civilized society to condemn systems that perpetuate this belief. Um slow it there Dont generalize. I live in the middle east and it's not like that. What does rape even have to do with this situation you basically repeated everything you said in the post I quoted you in and disregarded what I said about the situation. Not gonna bother chaeri pls

Not gonna bother I read it thoroughly - Gigi could have prevented it...um DUH. You're talking about how Gigi should have known better and could of prevented this from happening, which goes without saying. I'm coming from the view that laws like this need to be actively protested and condemned - which is actually what this discussion needs to be about - nothing else. I bring the rape argument into this because many people point fingers at victims when the conversation needs to be redirected at the aggressors. I'm not bringing rape into this for the sake of it - there is a clear similarity. Basically your perspective does nothing but deflect attention from where it's needed. donutellha 13,819
Utter mess, my best wishes go to Gigi! Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

So this is about LGBT rights in the ME? I'm telling you gay people can get killed in some countries and you're trying to make them accept transgenders? I live in what is arguably the most open minded middle eastern country and this is faaaaar from happening anytime soon. Lol how would we protest anything when we don't even have a government. Bottom lign is before the serious issues get addressed here, like probably isis invading our countries like cockroaches, social issues wont even get looked at. So for the time being, just avoid coming to this shithole chaeri pls

So for the time being, just avoid coming to this shithole Is it a huge undertaking? Yes. Will it be easy? No. But above all that's what the discussion needs to revolve around. We should advise LGBT individuals to avoid these areas, for obvious reasons, but when they are prosecuted under these immoral laws or even killed, our first thought cannot be "why were they there in the first place." Especially in an advanced civilized city like Dubai in this instance.
