lol you think Call Me Maybe is FRESH?

Yeah, it doesn't sound like Guetta or Dr. Luke or some hip hip meets dance mess.

Fresh is relative to the last couple years trends. Adele is only "fresh" in that sense too.

When a total unknown breaks though massively with a hit song, there is almost always is something fresh and different about it. Lot of people feel that way about Carly's song. Stuff becomes "generic" only when it becomes a repeated and tired formula.

I think this is the case with Just Dance and Poker Face.

However- Call Me Maybe is just teenage pop that has been around for ages

Which have been virtually absent from radio and the top of the charts the last few years. Even with corporate Disney backing.

The song has really gone viral. For example, the Harvard baseball team:

http://www.thecrimso...me-maybe-viral/

WFL went viral, that wasn't really "fresh"

Disney pop has been around. What was Miley Cyrus's fame? Or Justin Bieber?

Certainly not hardcore dance.

I think WFL sounded pretty fresh.

I'm not denying it's catchy, but there's nothing fresh sounding about it. It sounds like it could be some random Selena Gomez album track

4 lyrics over and over with a dance beat? Not really.
