You need to let TFM and BTW go

So, it seems we are on the verge of a whole new era, and that is freaking exciting. But before Gaga starts the actual promotion (which, in my opinion has already started in a way) and, with it, the infamous GGD meltdowns because "she is doing everything wrong", "she is not promoting anything", "where is the huge BTW like promotion?", I think we need to talk. Guys, let 2011 go, and with it, all that Gaga did and that worked well for TFM and BTW. It's a brand new world out there. And Gaga is (thank god) a brand new person. Look at all the recent major successful releases like Adele, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber and look at the ones that have disappointed or are already failing, like Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Britney. It doesn't work like BTW worked anymore. Actually, by the end of the BTW it got clear that it wasn't working any longer. It's not about the size of the promotion anymore. Hell, it's not even about singles charts anymore.

Before, charts and sales, and huge promotions were a trustworthy thermometer for the cultural impact. But nowadays, with the social networks withstanding an ever major role in our lives, way bigger than in 2011, with a world that revolves around streaming platforms (where you get music for free or for very little money), YouTube, Snapchat etc., we are living in a world in which what someone says on twitter is as relevant as an article by Billboard or the New York Times is terms of measuring cultural impact, because the companies and the institutions do not control it anymore. It's wild. 

So leave all hopes behind you if expect Gaga to make promotion like people used to do back then during her peak, in 2011. She missed the memo once, with ARTPOP - almost everybody that year did, except for Mrs. Beyoncé (that one is always alert to the winds of change) - and something tells me that she won't be caught dead missing it once again. She learned her lesson in 2013: you can't come back if you never really left. So she left, and she left for good (hence, jazz era and acting gigs). The thing now is to be unpredictable, to be coy, to work with the buzz, the mouth to year, the twitter rumours, surprise releases and effortless promotion. It's like releasing a rose in a tornado. Let the wild wind of social media spin it around and spread the word. And here is the part already in progress: leave them thirsty. Give them the chance to miss you. To crave for your return. To feel abandoned and in the dark. Just so that you can give them exactly what you made them long for. The longer you leave them in the dark, the more blinding will be your light to their eyes when you finally return.  

So, monsters, expect something entirely new. Something we've never seen. Something fresh. And welcome it. Haven't you heard it in Game of Thrones? All men must die. That include Gags. She has died. Accept it and let her be reborn as someone else, and rise again.

Its useless to rant about something which cannot be changed 

fans and gp alike, will compare all of gags future efforts with TFM & Btw no matter how good the future albums turn out to be! Its just going to happen forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever

until an album outsells them and then they would compare the future albums to that particular album, even if it was her trashiest album ever

They're two of my favorite albums ever. In that way they can never be forgotten, but THERE ARE plenty of monsters here stuck in the past claiming for the old days of subway stickers, out doors, in-your-face-and-you-cannot-escape-it promotion.

my guess is that everybody is playing hardball, like "Gaga who", "remember when there was a singer called Lady Gaga?", etc, but the fact is whenever she so much as hints on coming back, the fact that they were even joking about her, tells me they haven't really forgotten her, and they will all be on the edge of their seats. It will be like Mariah's Emancipation of Mimi, Madonna's Ray of Light or Confessions on Dance Floor, only Gaga is nicer than both of them

They remember her. But they remember her from the things she did in 2011 not 2014-16.
