I mean even MTV had a documentary special called "Miley: The Movement". It was very reminiscent of Gaga's start. But then it all fell apart.  I think the "Adore You" video was too much and it really turned people off. To have had two massive singles, a well selling album and then have a great song like "Adore You" only peak at #21 was really indicative of that. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Applebanana 9 Posted July 23, 2016 Share Posted July 23, 2016 Sometimes I wonder if Miley was only controversial to shake Disney off her back. if Miley hadn't been so controversial in 2013, Disney would still be making money off Hannah Montana merchandise. Also when you think about it too, Miley had never been given any creative control over her image and music up until that point of her life. Miley became popular with the straights for being a hoe and the gays loved her for being a hoe. She culturally appropriated the entire era and tried too hard.
