LebaneseDude 6,146
Via Vocativ http://www.vocativ.com/333176/calls-for-texas-independence-surge-in-wake-of-brexit-vote/ After residents of the UK voted today to leave the European Union, the movement for an independent Texas may be gaining serious momentum, with thousands online calling for a “Texit.” The largest group agitating for secession is the Texas Nationalist Movement, which has been promoting its own version of Brexit, called Texit, over the past several weeks. The group has taken inspiration from the pro-exit campaign in Britain, noting that the two movements share many of the same principles. Daniel Miller, president of the TNM, told Australian website news.com.au, “The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington” — a sentiment which echoes the arguments made by the British Leave campaign. Other American secessionist movements also took heart from the Brexit results. The Foundation for New Hampshire Independence wished Great Britain a happy “Independence Day” while calling for #NHexit. Another group, Yes California, released a statement applauding the referendum as “a shining example of the right of peoples to self-determination.” Yes California further declared its intention “to mimic that process here in California by putting an independence referendum on the ballot.” Edited just now by LebaneseDude. Bear 7,515
It looks like leaving unions and referendums are the new thing now In all seriousness, even if this could happen (which I highly doubt), it shouldn't. We should be aiming for unity not division Don't make the same mistake this country did.
JevyDuty 2,961
I called it!! I said Texit days ago. I should have copyrighten it. Texas can't do **** about their situation. We all know what happened the last time they tried and the Supreme Court already said "no" as well. All they can do, is exactly what they've been doing for the past 150 years: cry like a little bitch and throw tantrums.

JevyDuty 2,961
Leaving the E.U. is easy because the E.U. is not really a country. The president is a joke for a president of such a powerful body. The members even have varying currencies. On the other hand, the USA is a real country. You can only leave through revolution not by simply voting yourself out like the U.K. just did.
