Lady Gaga is not appearing in Dionne Warwick's biopic.

Looks like Gaga and her manager Bobby are f&*#ing up majorly. I can't understand why Gaga has film representatives that she doesn't consult before signing on to film a movie. 

The director of this hasn't done anything of worth. Neither has the screenwriter. And the producers are amateurs.

Are they (Gaga and Bobby) crazy? Not only is singing on to this weak project a bad idea but they've totally screwed it over with their promotion at Cannes. She needs to announce her involvement herself and quick.

This is so stupid.

I just read this: She admitted that the “Born This Way” singer hadn’t signed a contract for the role, despite Gaga’s name appearing on a poster for the movie at Friday’s presentation.

Lets hope there wasn't a miscommunication and that Dionne Warwick is just desperate as hell.

Earlier in the day, Warwick held a press conference in Cannes, where she revealed that a movie about her life was set to begin production in the fall. She announced that LeToya Luckett (one of the original members of Destiny’s Child) would play her, and thatLady Gaga had been cast as her “arch-nemesis,” the late British singer Cilla Black.

The project made international headlines. But only a few hours later, Gaga’s representatives issued a strong rebuttal to the casting news, which had been distributed via a press release from Rogers and Cowan. “Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in the project,” her publicist said in a statement. “Reports of Gaga starring in the project are false.”

Reached by Variety, Warwick insisted that her casting announcement was true. “Actually, it’s just a little glitch,” Warwick said about the debacle. “It will be corrected very soon, and everybody who retracted will have to retract again.”

Although a source told Variety that Gaga had never even heard about the project, Warwick blamed Gaga’s team for the mishap. “It wasn’t her that issued the statement,” Warwick said. “It was her PR people. It’s like everything else. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. It becomes a problem. When they start talking to each other, it’s going to make a difference.”

Warwick said she hasn’t talked to Gaga directly about the role, but has been in touch with her manager. “We finally have gotten texts and everything from everybody saying we’ll get it straightened out,” Warwick said.

She admitted that the “Born This Way” singer hadn’t signed a contract for the role, despite Gaga’s name appearing on a poster for the movie at Friday’s presentation.

When pressed again about Gaga’s involvement in the project, Warwick somewhat backtracked. “As far as I know — yes,” she said of Gaga co-starring in “Warwick.” “And if she’s not, somebody else will be. It’s that simple.”

She added that Gaga not appearing in the project wouldn’t affect the fate of the biopic, which is supposed to enter production in October. “It isn’t starring Gaga,” Warwick said. “It’s starring LeToya Luckett. It’s about Dionne Warwick, not Lady Gaga — OK?”..."

Are you seriously taking the word of such an unprofessional person? Gaga never signed a contract, her rep already denied it. They are using her name for publicity and hoping she end up being interested on doing the film.

This doesn't sound like Bobby and Gaga's fault, it's far more messy on the producers part to give the go-ahead to announce someone who hasn't even signed onto the project, nor answered an apparently all important "e-mail." If it was getting down to the nitty-gritty of the big press day, and Gaga still hadn't answered them back and also didn't sign anything committing herself to the role, wouldn't that occur to them that she just might not be that invested in doing this movie, and that it was time to look for a different actress? Or at the very least wait before putting her name on the poster?

You're right about them using Gaga's name for publicity. That's exactly what I assumed from the start, but that new THR article makes it sound like Gaga is to blame for a miscommunication - and Gaga's team hasn't responded to those claims yet. It just confused me. 

I do realize now after reading that Dionne admitted to not having a signed contract with Gaga that things are really fishy on her end. I never pictured Dionne Warwick to be a shark. It's a little bit beneath someone I would call a hero in music history. 

Anyhow, it would be really easy for Gaga or her team to clear all of this up once and for all. I'm not sure why it's taking so long.

I feel that if anyone should have a PR team that know her every move, it would be Gaga. I see no reason why they'd deny her appearance in the film without being told that was happening.
