I personally am gonna go with the one with the best typing as I am more of a competitive battler. which automatically means I'm not going for Rowlet even though I think it's the most innovative out of the three due to that 4 times weakness to ice and Grass generally being a poor competitive type with a few exceptions. Litten is expected by more than half the fan base to grow into a Fire/Dark type which is pretty good since it has 4 weaknesses only and can get same type attack bonus on two types, Dark is only resisted by 3 types making it one of the better-attacking types. I know you mentioned that Popplio might become a Water/Fairy which is only weak to three types and resists more types than Fire/Dark plus the dragon immunity is so sweet. So if the cases of Water/Fairy and Fire/Dark are true, I guess it comes down to whether one wants an amazing defensive typing such as Water/Fairy or an amazing offensive typing with Fire/Dark. I assume Rowlet will grow into the fastest of the starters to make up for its fragile typing. Random but I strongly feel Pipplio's final evolution will have the Swift Swim ability. So yea lol, I'm gonna go for the starter with the type that meets my needs but I know many people will go by design. Thats kinda one of the causes why I left so soon With Popplio primarily being the reason, of course. Game Freak had better come up with something that compensates Rowlet's horrible typing. I agree that Rowlet should be the fastest among the three. Giving it a bulky direction wont cut it. Grass types usually suck at being bulky. They had an attempt with Meganium, but its pretty pathetic with its job. An immunity to Ground is great and all, but it aint even weak to it to begin with. I hope they'd give Rowlet a special treatment like a really good HA. Many speculated it to have No Guard. Given it's pokedex entry, this thing should totally be a physical or mixed attacker. No Guard + High Jump Kick + Hurricane is an awesome combination. But lets face it, neither us or Game Freak take the dex seriously, so this aint happening Most likely one of them could stay in the higher tiers while the other two dwell in the depths. I do hope Popplio wont end up having the fat syndrome.
