Hillary Apologizes to Coal Miner Over "Out Of Business" Comment

There was nothing taken out of context. During the debate she said that she was going to put coal and coal miners out of business, and find a way to help the workers after they are let go because she was trying to prove that she was as environmentally friendly as Bernie. She said she was going to let them go because she meant she was going to let them go.

I get so mad at how much of a player Hillary is, and really worries me for how she is going to act when/if she gets the nomination. Climate change is a HUGE deal for me, and to hear her mince her words like this as if she didn't mean to say what she did bothers me. We need these coal plants to close and to ban fracking (of course with the proportionate amount of time to manage the needs of the american people. Nobody is planning to black out america for the sake of the climate, though how dire it is needed to shut down these energy suppliers, it'll NEVER happen).

So to hear her speak about how it was out of context and how she really meant that there would be job loss and how she meant that she would protect there jobs if they went the route of shutting down the coal plants really pisses me off. I need to hear from her what she really means, and what she really is going to do, not pander to whoever is sitting in front of her. This is exactly why I never wanted her to win the nomination in the beginning. No matter how far-fetched Bernie points of action were, he meant what he said and is helping push the democratic party into the progressives they should be. The party for the middle class and poor. I just don't know if Hillary is that; I just don't really know what she is.

It's nice for you to ignore the fact that Hillary has repeatedly stated her plans and forgot to include the context of shifting the jobs to clean power. She wants to put the profession out of business, not the individuals. She wants to put out the industry by reducing incentive, not eliminate it entirely as if that is feasible.

I would hope Sanders is missing context when he says he wants to break the big banks for example. Otherwise he's forgetting about the livelihoods of the people involved.

At least she has the decency to apologize when questioned. Bernie hasn't had to "elaborate" yet because he dodges the question of "how"

I don't plan on having a conversation with someone who wishes to be caddy, Please check your attitude before you decide to have a discussion. I'm sure everyone wishing to have a informative conversation with you would appreciate it.

I would appreciate it if you quoted me if you wish to talk to me. Referring to me in third person is far more "caddy" than me finding amusement in your posting three entire paragraphs based on a literal understanding of what context is.

Third person? I said "you" after your post, who else am I referring to? And there was no reason to quote caddy, we both understood what i meant and beginning with "It's nice for you..." is caddy. <---- context.

Well if you didn't mean it as some form of shade, then quote the person you're referring to so they know you responded. Otherwise it can't be interpreted as anything other than shade. "You" also has third-person connotation in English so there's that.

Anyway, "It's nice for you" isn't caddy. It's another way to say that "it's amusing that". Considering the extent you went to disavow Hillary, I found it amusing that you haven't even paid attention to the context of what "context" was.

I'll explain it for you yet again.

I'm a huge climate change awareness advocate myself, but you have to be inhuman to lack empathy for people such as these whose only livelihoods have been working in coal mines for years without skills to fall back on. You can't just shut every plant down without making sure they're catered to. The best solution, which Hillary has espoused many times, it's transferring those jobs to solar energy among other fields.

When taken out of context, the statement makes her look like she's demonizing coal workers and the industry itself. She's worked for their interests in the past. She just realizes that it's not part of the future and will have to be put out of business. Hillary's context was that she wanted to put the coal mining profession and industries out of business by pushing that business into clean energy. The missing context that new jobs will open for workers in those fields.

But, she was demonizing coal workers and the industry. During that moment when she said that she was debating with Bernie about the environment and she came out trying to outdo him saying that she was ready to get rid of coal in america because of it's damaging effects on the environment. This is a fact, i'm not making this up, so how is her new statement to this coal worker have any truth to it?

"I have been talking about helping coal country for a very long time," she said. "What I was saying is that the way things are going now, we will continue to lose jobs. That's what I meant to say."

She wants to help coal country...aka the people that live there. She isn't referring to the industry. Even then she is not demonizing the industry itself. She's raising awareness to its damaging effects and wants to transfer to clean energy to mitigate them. Perhaps we have different meanings of demonize. I infer it to mean to make something look evil and wicked. She doesn't believe that. She just thinks it has no place anymore.

More importantly and that which has actual context with what she's saying, is that she is there to support the coal miners not toss them to the side.

How do you not see the truth to her comment? I told you. She had said that she wants to put it out of business, when referring to the profession and the industry. The worker thought she was demonizing the coal miners and was going to ignore them. She corrected him by saying that she has plans to help the people there recover from that change.

Economy

Well Coal is by far the most toxic of the fossil fuels and it needs to go. Its worse than Oil or Natural Gas

But you do have to be careful. During transitions where certain industries die, a lot of people get hurt and you have to be careful not to be insensitive about it
