I'm going to be teaching middle school students this summer. This has been good practice in attempting to reason with close minded pubescent stubbornness.

I lasted as long as I could :emma:

Oh please. Bernie has come at Hillary repeatedly for months with his same old same talking points. He's the one that said Hillary was unqualified, and then doubled down on his statement when questioned about it. It wasn't until the majority of the media and political world came out with a collective "WTF are you even talking about" and many of his supporters in the media and elsewhere spoke out against his statement, that he reluctantly walked that ridiculous and ignorant statement back!

Bernie didn't expose anyone with the truth. He supported John Kerry for President, who voted for the Iraq War, but somehow that makes Hillary unqualified. The other two talking points he repeats over and over and over also apply to John Kerry, whom he supported. They also apply to every other Democrat to run for office in the near past, including Obama. I guess Obama wasn't "qualified" either.

He also said he would never run as a Democrat, and here he is, using the party. He said he was meeting with the Pope, but the Pope will be in Greece at the time he will be speaking, or going to, his economic meeting. His misrepresentations and lies are mounting up. He won't release his tax returns. It's past time for him to do that. Wonder if there is something interesting in those? You never know.

There's no point. They've repeated the same statements and opinions despite having been shown proof otherwise.

I'm convinced they are Bernie bots, so like all trolls, I'm just going to ignore them. I suggest you do the same. There are plenty of other level-headed people here to talk politics with if we're so inclined to do so on a Gaga forum.

But the issue is that like most of his promises, he doesn't outline how he would do it, at least not in any realistic manner.

He said he would outright overturn these laws as president, rather than say that he'd continue on the path Obama has started to have the Supreme Court ultimately overturn it. This issue is up in their hands.

So he's ultimately taking credit using misdirection. He's saying "I'll fix the problem" when he technically cannot unless other factors, some of which not under his control, come into fruition.

That's the problem I have with his statement. It's deliberately misleading.

He said he'd fight as hard as he could to overturn them and that he was opposed to them. I have no doubt that he would do anything in his power to get rid of them, so what he said was truthful and he could make choices that would get rid of them. It seems to me like what he said and saying what you think he should've said, is pretty much the same thing. it's not misleading, it's just what he would do.

Well it's clear to me you understand that's how it works. So I'm sure you understand what he meant.

Many don't. That's the point. :)

Okay, I understand what ur saying. Some people don't understand the process and some people might get the wrong idea. I just don't think he did it on purpose. I think he's so knowledgable on this stuff that he forgot to be more specific for the people that don't know.

Glad to see Bernie has evolved (flip-flopped) on LGBT issues.

In 2006, he took a stand against same-sex marriage in Vermont, stating that he instead endorsed civil unions. Sanders told the Associated Press that he was comfortable with civil unions, but not full marriage equality. (To justify his stance, Sanders complained that a battle for same-sex marriage would be too “divisive.”)

Bernie voted against DOMA

When serving as mayor of Burlington, Sanders told an interviewer that LGBT rights were not a “major priority” for him. Asked if he would support a bill to protect gays from job discrimination, Sanders responded, “probably not.”

That's a good thing for gay rights, you know?
