I could've sworn most of their singles were #1 hits. There was competition back then.  Work wouldn't have peaked in the top 50.  Just kidding, it probably would've.

Here's their Pop Radio peaks. I remember these songs being much bigger and that's because I listened to Pop radio and they were very successful there.

I Want You Back: #7
Tearin’ Up My Heart: #6
A Little More Time On You: #5

Music of My Heart: #21

Bye Bye Bye: #1
It’s Gonna Be Me: #1
This I Promise You: #4

Pop: #5
Gone: #7
Girlfriend: #5

I thought BBB was their biggest hit. That's the song that most people know them for. Weird. :emma:

I don't have a Diamond Heart.

If you take a look at Britney's discography, her performance is also quite similar during this time. Toxic didn't even reach number one which is ****ing weird. This is why Billboard always update their metrics because clearly, chart positions don't properly reflect its popularity and over-all impact.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

This time was especially different because urban music was very big at the time (hence why Destiny's Child was so much more successful at the time, singles wise, compared to the pop people), so I typically look to Pop Radio charts during that time because its more representative of how big i remember the songs being, since I listened to pop radio. I've heard that urban/rhythmic radio was given more percentage points than pop at the time, which could explain the situation.

Oh my, is it possible that this is some kind of unconscious manipulation on what genre should be in vogue at a time? Did pop rock have larger percentage points before too? How about dance now? Do they affect the BB Hot 100 in some way?
