Who is whining? I'm asking about the technology not Gaga's performance.

I never expected it to be as "groundbreaking" as they said it would be anyway. The tech was really cool in my opinion.

It's ridiculous to complain about overhype when Gaga delivered maybe the best performance of her career.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Lmao, the 2009 VMA performance was far from basic.

Lol I know I was being sarcastic :air: Gaga will never top that performance.

You missed it. Gaga used a PROJECTION. It's never been done before. It's innovative :derpga:

Is it worth watching?:giveup: I'm still gonna watch it though.

Finally feeling free for the night, I got no worries. Finally got a claim on my life, baby, c'est la vie. ☄️

As an actual Bowie fan I was somewhat satisfied with the tribute but it felt out of place and messy. It was pretty underwhelming but you might enjoy it. I prefer performances like Vmas 2009, Oscars 2015, poker face mmva 2009 etc

We know what we are getting since we discussed it so much on threads here, so not surprising it does not seems new anymore to many of us here.

But it is fresh for performance and I really enjoyed it. Like the technology are not too overwhelming that it wipe away the tribute to Bowie essence and not too underwhelming either.

It's very clear that they cut a lot to keep the tribute to David Bowie tasteful in his honour. Obviously they had some technological clothing that was scrapped in favour of Bowie outfits. Try cut them a bit of slack, she changed the performance from ground-breaking technology, to a tasteful, yet still incredible and elaborate, performance. People who weren't as hyped as us would have been absolutely blown away!

But what they DID have, was incredible! That live face mapping was incredible and the sort of holographic colours floating around was actually enthralling!

Although, I very selfishly wish we got to see the original performance. It would've been her music, performed her way, with beautiful technology-infused clothing, and completely different theme. I wonder how they would've used the technology (face-mapping etc) with her music!

However, I'm really glad she changed it up and did this instead! It was a really amazing tribute to an artist who meant so much to not just her, and millions of other people, but music in general.

As far as tributes go, she nailed it.

EDIT: Try to remember guys, at the end of the day, after all the Intel hype, this ended up as a Bowie tribute NOT a Gaga performance.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I wanna know what they were originally planning before it was a Bowie tribute.

The projection was cool.

I liked the tilting piano.

Gave me applause teas with the fashion changes.

I screamed the most though when I saw she her red carpet look tho....

I feel like she should have sang Life on Mars.

It was ok but nothing groundbreaking.

Projection mapping in performance is nothing new; people have done it plenty of times before.

Their original plan probably had a lot of cool stuff in it that was scrapped in favor of the tribute performance :/

There's more interesting things in the promo videos than in the actual performance lol

The whole thing seemed pretty effortless, but the making of video is actually really interesting and revealing. Like, many of the things that happened onstage were way more difficult to achieve than what you guys might expect. In the end, I'm glad the technology didn't totally overshadow the performance - for a tribute, that would have been tacky.

I'm also fairly sure this is just a beginning - Gaga and Intel are far from being done.

It's never been done in a live performance, while person is singing.

Why is it impressive just because she was singing?  She was still mostly staying still.  Just because her mouth was moving doesn't change much lol

Other people have used projection mapping with tons more movement, like this (skip to 1:26, also at 2:43):

They use projection mapping while doing actual choreography between 3 people, and it's even programmed to recognize specific areas of their clothing to light up separate from the rest.

At this point I feel like people will never be satisfied with anything she does. It isn't her fault that some of you choose to live in perpetual delusion. :saladga:

As for the performance, I thought it rocked the house down boots. She totally channeled David and every glam rock deity of the 70s. I feel like they could've taken it further, but knowing Gaga, she probably stripped a lot of it away to keep it tasteful. I loved how the colors enveloped her, and the face mapping in the beginning was so rad. I really hope she collaborates with Intel for her next tour. One of her best performances to date.
