MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa/IOWA CITY, Iowa (Reuters) - U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump withdrew on Tuesday from a debate with party rivals this week out of anger at host Fox News , leaving the last encounter before Iowa's pivotal nominating contest without the front-runner.

Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, told reporters after a combative news conference held by the candidate that Trump would definitely not be participating in the debate scheduled for Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa, and co-hosted by Google .

During the news conference before he addressed a large crowd in Marshalltown, Iowa, Trump expressed irritation that Fox News planned to leave in place as a moderator the anchor Megyn Kelly, whose questioning of Trump at a debate last August angered him.

"I was all set to do the debate, I came here to do the debate. When they sent out the wise-guy press release done by some PR person along with (Fox News Chairman) Roger Ailes, I said: 'Bye bye, OK'"

"Let's see how much money Fox makes without me in the debate," the billionaire businessman added.

I'm sorry though, will he back out of talking to very important people like presidents of other countries if he doesn't agree with them? Will he refuse to negotiate with our allies or whoever if the need arises?

You can't pick and choose. He should go to the debate and do his "job"  and not walk off like a child who didn't get their way.

I doubt they care much wether he's there or not, he has the brain of a goldfish, the ego of Kanye west and the common sense of a plank of wood.

I think they do because he brings in the high ratings.

This will give his opponents a lot more view time, which is great for splitting the vote. This may make it easier for Bernie. #FeelTheBern

This has nothing to do with Bernie Sanders as he is part of the Democratic Party. It may help other Republicans some, but Bernies biggest contender is Hillary.

In the final vote, assuming Bernie gets the nomination, splitting the vote to a less popular canidate could help. I don't mean in the primaries.

Yes, he will.

His discriminatory policies will not only harm and insult minorities but republicans do not see it from the perspective you just expressed.

If he becomes the president, he is most likely to harm relationships of US with important allies. That's my theory. Because I do not think he has a professional manner to manage it. For example: Ted Cruz has a similar proposition about muslims but the way he expresses it is way more professional than Trump.

I was scared the title would read "pulls out of Republican race" :ohno:

Internet is truly a marvelous thing. I am amazed to meet a real life, living, breathing "Trump supporter".
Can I take you to an FMRI and make some tests to learn more about you guys ?

Lion Heart

I think this is a bad move as this will give a lot of amno for all the other GOP contenders to use against him- and the Democrats.

Also Cruz might win Iowa after all.

Also I hope Carly can take his spot at the debate; she belongs in the main stage.
