imwoahvicky 4,248
Now before you tell me, "yes it is the competition" etc. I just had a random thought...is that the song we should really be worrying about at the Oscars? It's predicted that either "See You Again" or "Til It Happens To You" will win, but since Sam Smith snatched that Golden Globe out of See You Again's hands, for Sam's song "Writing's on The Wall" the Oscar board might think the same thing, Sam Smith deserves it. Any thoughts? It just occurred to me when I was looking at the winners of the Golden Globes 10 minutes ago, and it has me wondering if Sam will pull a Beck. ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜
Nino 12
See You Again was a massive hit dedicated to a dead person. If there's two things the academy likes it's popularity contests and abusing the names of dead people to make money.
SlaeUrAnus 15,955
Yes. I have a feeling the Oscar committee will snub the rest of the nominees and give it to See You Again because of Paul Walker. Not it mention it was the biggest hit of 2015. The fact of Wiz Khalifa having an Oscar infuriates the **** out of me though In my messy era.

You never know though...I was 100% sure the GG were gonna give it to SYA, but I was wrong ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜
Nicole 1,809
Yes, not only was it a hit but it was dedicated to one of Hollywood's own.
GagaXCupcakke 3,818
Does Sam Smith really deserve it though? The song is really just a lame version of Sky Fall. Just because he won a GG, doesn't mean he will win or even be nominated for an Oscar.

SYA and TIHTY are front-runners, but articles have also said that his could be the 'sleeper' win or some kind of thing. ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜
Mister Gaga 22,889
It's really strange, because although "Writing's on The Wall" won the GG, it's not nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammy Awards (SYA and TIHTY are), and it's reviews are not that good... See You Again was a monster hit, probably the biggest song of the year, after Uptown Funk. The only thing that TIHTY has to hold on is Gaga's recent praise and buzz because of the Golden Globe. The competition it's still pretty open.
GloZell Green 11,723
Commercial success? Yes Message? No. They disregard commercial success apparently and focus on the song so there's hope. Lady Gaga | Shakira
VANTABLACK 7,793
I don't think see you again will win . It's like saying Star Wars will win best picture ,sure it was a massive hit and got popularity but u never know with the oscars anything could happen. But if SYA wins that Grammy then I'm going to be a little scared

It is a popularity contest for the Oscars. Thats not true. Massive movies have lost oscars before to low budget movies. I've also seen massive stars like Sandra Bullock lose oscars to a low star actress. Popularity does not determine the award in most cases.
