Ali Saqr, 20, killed his mother, Leena al-Qasem, in the Syrian city of Raqqa, ISIS' de facto capital, as hundreds looked on near the post office where she worked, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

ISIS had accused her of apostasy after her son turned her in, the activists said. She allegedly had been "inciting her son to leave the Islamic State." She wanted to escape with him and told him "that the coalition will kill all members of the organization."

I don't know what religion this guy is following tbh.

You really don't know? The article states his mother wanted to leave the religion.

You do know that Leaving the Islamic state =/= leaving Islam because IS is not Islam, right?

She was accused of apostasy. The Quran is clear on what the punishment for that is.

Just by discussing this belief system on the internet, I feel endangered.

But I think I'm one of the few standing up for reality here..

She was accused of apostasy just because she wanted to escape from the Islamic state with her son. And yes although the punishment is clear but it doesn't justify what he did to his mother, all what his mother wanted is to leave IS. To make things clear, I'm against death penalties in general.

bible and talmud have similar passages with death sentences for shaving beards, etc., but most christians and jews don't care about them and pretend they don't exist.

there are good peaceful muslim people out there who are trying to do the same with islam, and by shoving these quotes to their faces we're not really helping.

The problem here is that not all belief systems are created equal.
