Who is/was your favorite pop (by pop, i mean mainstream) star that was killing it in the first half of the 2000's  (2000-2004)?

*Mariah's dominance didn't start till 2005, so thats why she isn't in this.

You should add Madonna.

Music, Die Another Day American Life and Hollywood were released in the early 2000, which were big hits I think.

In my opinion they put pretty much every pop female american artist to shame during their reign. Well, like most pop artists outside of the U.S., their smaller market allowed them to be far more diverse in their sound whilst remaining pop.

I'll give u Music, but in the US at least, Hollywood was not big, only when it was performed at the 2003 VMA lolol.

And 2005 was not between the years 2000-2004, interestingly enough.

ALMOST included her lol. If i had an eleventh option i could put, i would've. But since she was basically No Doubt between 2000-2004, and Hollaback Girl didn't come out till 2005 (which made sales of L.A.M.B. increase), I decided to choose the girls who were around more in that time frame

I agree and also consider 2005 as the start of her solo era. The thing is I don't really stan any other pop girls besides Gaga and Gwen. :noparty: The name "early 00's pop girl" fits her, even if the time frame is kinda rigged.

I stan hard for Gwen too, so no worries. Im sure she could fit in this the more i think about it. She was the lead singer of the most popular band in the early 2000's (specifically from 2001-2003) and she had two hit songs with Moby and Eve as a solo act then as well.

And i did 2000-2004 cuz thats the first 5 years of the 00's decade (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004)

I'm not gonna lie, Ashanti was fantastic back then! She had solo hits and numerous guest appearances. I had the self titled album and almost all the tracks are bops. "Rock with you" is still catchy today. Then the next few albums weren't as well received. But on occasion I watch the video for "Good good." She played at the state fair (the decay!) this past summer but I didn't go, I wish I did.

I'll never forget when I heard that the New York Times said "She's no Ashanti" when reviewing Beyonce's debut album in 2003. lololol

I have heard that many accused Beyonce of stealing Ashanti's style and vibe. And that it eventually ended Ashanti's career. And Ashanti is hellla bitter about it (i would be too)
