My views are not your own, but I'm not forcing my sh!t on you, so let me eat and wear cows in peace. Fukking bye

I'm a vegan and an animal rights activist and **** but I don't understand the controversy around fur. It's no more cruel then leather or products like meat, dairy and eggs. How can a person who eats animals and may wear animals or things tested on them be against wearing fur? That's like a pedophile that's against a certain kind of peeophilia but will happily engage in the rest. If ur against killing animals, why doesn't that include all animals? Doesn't really make sense to me and PETA really finds weird double standards to use. They liked Gaga in 2009 for coming out against fur but then went after her for the meat dress? Did they not know she eats meat? Why were they okay with her eating it but not wearing it? Especially considering they're mission statement is "not ours to eat".

How is Gaga any worse then any other non vegan for wearing fur?

eating meat and  skinning animals for fashion are 2 very different things

You don't need meat anymore then fur. In the same there's other things you can wear besides fur, there's other things you can eat besides animal products. Vegans live just fine without supporting heinous acts of violence against animals.

See I understand that these ppl trying to spread a good cause and save animals but they're doing it in the wrong way, who goes to a celeb and say "DONT WEAR FUR!!" I mean who the **** are you to tell me what I should do? It's not affective. Instead they should be like any normal organization and try to promote their message and cause to the masses tactfully.

In all fairness to PETA, they have gotten a lot of celebs to not wear fur with these tactics.

The people who owned slaves in the 1800s made this very argument

That's a very dumb argument, and I'm not even against fur. The culture of food that humans enjoy has no equivalent whatsoever in the animal world. Most people in the West don't eat to survive, they eat because they enjoy it. And there lies the crucial difference: luxury resulting in unnecessary murder.

But I agree that there's no significant difference between killing animals for food or clothing. Not in this culture, especially when there are good alternatives for animal proteins and furs.

The reason I'm not against any of that is because the vegetable and fruit industry is not without its problems either and the underlying problem is still identical to me. Just some trivia about me :gaycat:

Yes, they did. They felt that the abolisitionists should just respect their beliefs and live and let live.

And half the animals in nature do a lot of other ****ed up ****. Should we really base our morality on that of other animals? Many species are cannibals. Animals do many things that are illegal for us to do. The argument that "animals do it" could justify so much more then killing animals for no reason other then palate pleasure, it could justify murder, rape, cannibalism, etc.

Genetically, our make up is carnivorous, ancient man didn't have the tools and machinery they have today to kill and process animals, but they sure did have to hunt for food.. so no my argument isn't dumb.

If I had to eat to survive, I'd eat a squirrel, or a rabbit, but because I have the luxury to eat for enjoyment, I'll enjoy a steak.

I'm not basing morality off animals, I'm basing genetics... as a highly evolved species, we can determine what's right and wrong, and have the ability to do what's right, ya know, like letting someone consume and enjoy meat if that's their choice.. you can't brow beat someone into having the exact same opinion as you.

Genetically we're opportunistic omnivores :rip: Don't make **** up. You can perfectly survive on plants. But that wasn't even my point, my point was that there's no reason to justify wearing fur because other animals kill animals too. They do for very different reasons.

Receipts please because everything I've ever been taught or read is that we are carnivorous. I'm not even trying to argue but if I'm wrong, show me some facts.  EDIT; OK did a quick Google, and a lot of arguing factors are brought up, but if we aren't naturally carnivores, then I blame public schools for the miscommunication of information.

At the core of it, I think PETA means well, but the radical stand points they've adopted are far too off putting, so while I agree with some of what PETA stands for, I don't agree with all of it, and who gave anyone the right to tell them what they can and cannot consume? Like what?
