334 days and 351 U.S. mass shootings in 2015

I can believe we have reached a point where we are placing Terrorism in with gun violence and gun crime. Like they dont have pipe bombs and ****. these people will find a way to kill people in mass quantity with or without guns. Also this study lumps in all the inner-city gang shootings and impoverished area shootings with mass shootings of 4 or more people. These numbers are completely out of context. Local gun crime (Criminal shootings and gang related crime is up) (Mass shootings like San Bernadina and such # are the same as last year) But the president dosent want you to know that so shhhhh.

Yes, we do. Just look at the weapons available. It's ridiculous. Average citizens don't need those things.

The police is armed how it is BECAUSE this is an armed population.

Look at other countries where the population is less armed... police don't even carry guns at times.

Its known fact that shooters and people looking to kill people look for Gun free zones (Soft areas) to commit there crimes such as schools. Gun free zones and disarming the citizens doesn't work when people still want to kill other people people. Look at france and their strickt gun laws and how many of them died. What if a responible citizen had a concealed permit? Alot less people could have died.

Police aren't Armed because its an armed population. Thats stupid. Is someone took there car and started running over people in time square they would need to be stopped with force (A gun). Its also a statistic that the great majority (Very great) of people who acquire guns legally are responsible gun owners. Its the ones who steal the guns or buy them on the black market or acquire the Illegally are the ones committing these crimes. Thats fact

AND MOST IMPORTANT: The second amendment was created to protect people from the government.

The Federalist Papers, No. 28: Alexander Hamilton expressed that when a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming tyrannical, the people have no choice but to exercise their original right of self-defense — to fight the government.[Halbrook, p. 67]

Poor 'Murica, at least each time another shooting happens, people will keep the victims(the dead ones lol) in their "thoughts and prayers". Yay, who needs to actually do something when you can pray and send positive thoughts!!

Oh well. I do my part and that is about all I can do about it all. I will not have anyone in my life who is a gun holder.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I've pretty much given up on people in this country. Idiots.

Continue to send your "thoughts and prayers" every week if that's what you wish.

The least the government and people could do is change their attitude on gun culture.

Yes, WE do. You are not part of the WE...as you don't live in the US.

Quit acting like you are part of the WE in the US, because you are not.

Canada and USA have different problems, laws and governments. You live in Canada, you're affected by your country's gun laws not by our gun laws.  You are not part of that "WE" that is being affected by American gun laws so stop acting like you were part of that "WE".

You can't dictate what we need or what we don't need. You don't live here, so you can stop meddling in our businesses because you don't experience what we do.

ive never seen Goosey claiming he is American.  A LOT of the people on this website are not American, but they comment on American things, and they act like they know everything about America, and know whats best for America. im American, and I would much rather have someone from Canada comment on American things, than somebody from God knows where, all the way across the world, like some people do on this website. Goosey says very normal and true things.

I agree. It's all about the quality of your arguments and Goose(y) has strong arguments, whether you agree with them or not. Very different from just posting "Guns are disgusting blablabla" so anyone who truly cares about this subject should appreciate good arguments no matter what point of view they embody. But apparently choosing to go personal to be able to dismiss someone's entire point is the favorite cop-out for a lot of people here :smh:

Using the pronoun "we" is claiming to be living in the US.

Yes, people comment on events that happen in other countries and that's perfectly acceptable. Just don't claim to be a citizen or living in a country that you have never even visited.

Your last statement is purely your opinion, as I completely disagree with most of his views on politics and human rights in general. I don't find his views to be "normal and true" anymore than I find the views of Trump or Fox News to be "normal and true".

The majority of citizens in the US want better restrictions. The government is not doing want the American public wants. WE :) will need to have a Democratic Congress to get to a place where any type of change can start to happen.

Looked up Bernie Sanders' (my idol) view on gun policy, some of his thoughts:

"Folks who do not like guns [are] fine. But we have millions of people who are gun owners in this country — 99.9 percent of those people obey the law. I want to see real, serious debate and action on guns, but it is not going to take place if we simply have extreme positions on both sides. I think I can bring us to the middle."

What he wants:
- instant background checks to prevent firearms from finding their way into the hands of criminals and the mentally ill
- federal ban on assault weapons

In short: "Bernie believes in a solution which promotes gun rights for those who wish to possess them while also ensuring their safe and secure use so that they cannot be used to harm fellow human beings."

Ideal position for me.

Thoughts?

This is true however people aren't active which leads me to believe they don't actually care. They aren't voting for the right politicians and the NRA has bought Congress. The corruption is incredible.

The economy made people vote for the opposite of what we had in the White House, so we ended up with a Republican majority in Congress. The NRA has bought the Republicans. We aren't getting any kind of changes in gun laws, as long as we have a Republican majority in Congress.

If we didn't get even a very minimal change after Sandy Hook, we aren't getting one anytime soon.

This is why I'm swooning over Bernie :nick: I'm fully on board with his suggestions and I hope one day we can achieve it. He gets straight to the point in the highlight portion above, everyone is so bitterly divided on the issue, there is no room for cordial discussion. Hell, just read this thread. You have people going back and forth claiming that pro-gun people are lunatics, for lack of a better word. Banning all weapons would be the ultimate antithesis of some of this nation's founding ideals. That's not the solution and people simply cannot demand people look at other countries for proof because America is in no way, shape, or form like any of those places. We cannot cookie cut policies from other locales and expect them to work perfectly here. We need to take the time to "bake" our own. Our political environment in the US has been so volatile the last eight years, we've been unable to accomplish anything related to this issue. And, of course, sensational journalism doesn't help this issue either. Its a deeper issue than many people want to believe.

Well if you check page 4 you'll see that he clearly claimed to be part of the US.

Morphine Prince said "We (Americans) need more limits on what guns can be sold" and he said "Eh... not we don't. A US citizen has the right to be at least as well armed as the police".

Just because you agree with him it doesn't mean it's true.

What? How is owning a gun a human right? Explain to me why is owning a gun a human right. Where in the The Universal Declaration of Human Rights there's an article that says that every individual can own a gun?

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is clearly lacking.
