334 days and 351 U.S. mass shootings in 2015

There have been at least 351 mass shootings so far this year, according to news reports collected by a reddit community that tracks these incidents. The reddit tracker defines mass shootings as incidents in which four or more people, including the gunman, are killed or injured by gunfire. The Mass Shooting Tracker is different from other shooting databases in that it uses a broader definition of mass shooting — the old FBI definition focused on four or more people killed as part of a single shooting.

The number of mass shootings so far this year has already surpassed the total number of mass shootings in 2014, according to the tracker. And the pace is well above 2013's pace, when a total of 363 mass shootings occurred.

maybe we should just go ahead and ban guns all together. i mean it will be hell at first but in the long run middle america will be safe and the poorer areas will also be safer. it may take decades for it to happen but the eventual outcome could be a safer america.

the people living in poor areas and gang infested will be sitting ducks for a time and we will take the brunt of the gang wars over the control of a new black market for firearms but the poor are always dealing with the majority of the crime that happens here so it will just be normal to us right? middle america and upper class cities will be safe again with little jimmy not having a gun i the house to blow off timmy's head and these mass shooting kunts wont have easy access to guns anymore which will prevent further tragedy. in the end its all for the betterment of society.

To outright ban all guns is a ridiculous notion. What do you propose to do with people who are responsible gun owners? And yes, there ARE responsible gun owners; my dad, brother, and grandfather are prime examples. You can't just ban something because it makes YOU (and most other liberals) uncomfortable. That's not how you solve problems, its how you create them.

That number is really depressing.

"You can't just ban something because it makes YOU uncomfortable."

Everyday news about mass shootings, murders and accidental killings tend to make people uncomfortable... what is a responsible gun owner on a day someone pisses him off, he gets drunk and snaps? How come mass shooters were often "nice guys" and "we would never imagine he'd do something like this..."?

If no one was allowed to have guns, why would it bother your relatives? It's not like anyone's gonna shoot at them so they won't need it for self defense?

Banning guns seems pointless. I mean, people will just switch so much faster to chemical weapons, which are a lot more dangerous. Or they'll learn how to use bombs on the internet.

I mean, obviously there's a problem but damage control is always silly.

nice comeback. call me brainwashed and disregard the obvious sarcasm in my post.

but tell me what problem would we create by banning guns? i mean if you are going to have a strong position on something at least back it up rather than just respond with insults like "brainwashed liberal" in order to shut people with different opinions up. no better than SJWs calling you racist or something to shut you up when they are presented with a dissenting opinion.

what would happen to your brother, dad or grandfather if we took their guns? what problems would it cause for them i mean do they live in some crime infested neighborhood or something or is it just their hobby of shooting squirels and empty beer cans in their backyard go away ?

tell me :derpga:

Banning guns all together would probably have an effect similar to the Prohibition in the '20s. People will find ways to get guns no matter what.

Why does this issue have such extremist sides on both sides? It's like gun control has way more crazy views than other issues.

I think it's just very emotionally fuelled because of the school shootings. It's understandable but I can't disagree with pro-gun people who point, correctly, to the fact that people die way more in car accidents and yet no one is even debating whether or not we should ban cars for the safety of society.

i see your point and agree but the thing is that we dont need guns to get to our jobs every day the way people need cars to get to work or even commute to other cities that are hours away to get to work.

the alcohol a--logy makes sense though because we prohibited that in the 20s and here comes al capone and the mafia using it to gain money and power. alcohol also kills a lot of people due to drunk driving or can lead to a lot of domestic violence( i've seen it unfortunately).
