But are you ever gonna reply to the counterarguments though? If it's all for safety, at least alcohol and cars should be banned from ordinary citizen life as well but I doubt you'd agree with that. That's the whole problem with this anti-gun rhetoric: it makes no sense.

The irony at saying something males no sense when you keep comparing guns with cars and alcohol. Alcohol kills people who take it by themselves but nobody takes a bullet because they want to.

Don't get why you're saying that when I could've reacted the sale to tour guns = cars argument. I guess it's difficult to debate when you think everybody who doesn't think the same why as you is ignorant or stupid.

Ok hold the **** up, that is not what I even ever implied, so quit pulling that out of your ass, thanks.

I never ****ing compared guns to cars omg :rip: I compared the DAMAGE. But if you have no idea of what kind of damage alcohol does besides people drinking themselves to death, then there's just no point in me elaborating.

It was just an example, this is about guns' damage not alcohol's.

It's about preventing deaths that could've been easily prevented. Or that's at least the argument that anti-gun people always use. I'm just pointing out that those same people never ever make cases for other things that are directly related to easily preventable injuries and deaths, like alcohol, like transportation by car, like certain sports,... That's important because it shows the lack of a sincere and systematic stance against guns in particular.

Then why do shootings shock everybody every time there's one? There are thousands of car accidents and alcohol-induced deaths every day. I guess people don't view those problems at the same level do they

So you're saying that just because people are dumb enough to fall for dramatic spectacle, only guns should be banned while other (at least) equally dangerous tools for violence should just be permitted because they don't shock anyone? :rip:

You're absolutely right that people are selective when it comes to outrage about violence, but I see this as part of the problem, not something that's ok. I guess that's where we disagree.

I guess the part where we disagree is that I think that if normal citizens stopped having guns the biggest part of that violence would disappear, and that I don't consider guns and cars to be "equally dangerous".

They're both hugely dangerous.

As you can see, more young people are at risk dying of a gun than a car now, but until very recently it was clearly not the case. And this doesn't even mention injuries.

I'd say based on this image they both deserve equal attention.

Why doesn't that happen in countries where normal people don't have guns? People killed by guns are much much less than the ones killed by accidents. It would actually be crazy and unnaceptable in my society seeing the levels of guns and car deaths almost equal.

True, but you already answered your own question. Because people are used to people dying of these things in those countries and they don't care because they all have cars :rip:

I feel like if everyone in America had guns nobody would probably care about "occasional" gun violence either. The benefits would be obvious because it's a part of everyone's daily life.

To outright ban all guns is a ridiculous notion. What do you propose to do with people who are responsible gun owners? And yes, there ARE responsible gun owners; my dad, brother, and grandfather are prime examples. You can't just ban something because it makes YOU (and most other liberals) uncomfortable. That's not how you solve problems, its how you create them.

Pooh ya', they'll take yor da's gun! Wh'ar ya' gonna do now?

Gun control is not the answer, but gun enthusiasts are irritating as **** and the way people get so smug over these incidents is idiotic. And people need to stfu with the "I wouldn't be able to save someone in a mass shooting if I didn't have a gun to shoot the killer" logic because that almost never happens. People would like to delude themselves and others into thinking they're the white knight hero king of the world, but it's not realistic. The realistic justification is that the concept of a gun-laden area is preventative of crime in nature, which does have some factual backing to it.

But most people in America have cars + guns. I don't really get what you're trying to say in the second paragraph.

Right now there are lots of deaths provoked by cars and guns. Yet in Europe there are only lots of deaths by cars. The number of deaths by guns is pretty residual. So in Europe there's half he problem that in America because one of the biggest problems is non-existant here. And why's that? Because normal citizens aren't able to buy a rifle in their nearest Target store.
