yASSsss 35,510 Posted November 16, 2015 Share Posted November 16, 2015 A man whose NYPD officer wife was killed on 9/11 has returned her posthumous “Woman Of The Year” Award from Glamour magazine after the publication gave the same award to Caitlyn Jenner.James Smith, also an NYPD officer, wrote an open letter to the magazine that he posted on Facebook. His wife, Moira Smith, died while rescuing people from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11. The 38-year-old was the only female NYPD officer killed. In a statement, Glamour told BuzzFeed News they stand by their decision to give Jenner the award. Even if Caitlyn Jenner herself may not directly help everyone, she is paving the way for the experts to come into the limelight and teach people, to save them. The military, police officers, hospital workers, etc. wouldn't mean **** if the country wasn't worth protecting. You know what makes the country worth living in? The activists, the people that make it so black people aren't enslaved, the people that make it so that everyone who isn't an old, white, bitter farmer who picks carrots and tips cows over can have the same rights. There are women way braver than she is, there is no denying that. But she became a symbol for the trans community all over the world, and I see this as a win for them. All trans people that've had to fight for their right for years. And giving this award to Caitlyn reflects the time we live in. And I stand by that. His wife ran into a burning building to save human beings...period, not people that were a certain race, ethnic background, s-xual orientation, gender, or religion. She gave her life for people from every walk of life. She died because she believed that all humans were worthy.
