giskardsb 12,565
So far the Countess has been basically a menacing background character, but clearly things are building up around her. Basically every major plot line except the 10ck involves the Countess, and even that has the Holden storyline. We have Alex and Holden. Vampire kids running amok. Iris is converted and has no love for the Countess. Donavon and Ramona looking for revenge. Will Drake and her thirst for his money. Probably threats from her as yet unknown backstory. Liz is probably a Countess ally, but who knows for sure. Stuff is building up all around and undoubtedly a major breaking point is not far ahead, although I wouldn't be surprised if the real explosion doesn't happen till the last few episodes. We are only five episodes in kiddos. Have patience. The Countess's story is a slow tease but probably the central point of the season when all is said and done. GagaXCupcakke 3,818
The Countess does have a lot of build up, but it will be worth it! We're all going to be bald by the end of this season.

DiscoHeaven23 35,007
I was starting to feel like The Countess was only a minor role, but after the last episode I started to realize she's more present in the story than she physically has been. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. But, knowing Ryan Murphy he could build up to something and then never fully explain it because he got so lost in his story line. If I had a dollar for every question I was left asking after every season...
freebit 6,240
It seems like a lot of people want all their info about her upfront. I love the slow build, it makes her more mysterious and builds anticipation and intrigue. Personally, I feel like there's a lot to glean and interpret from what we've seen of her. Cold and clinical as she seems, I feel like a weakness of the Countess is a fear of abandonment. Her first love left her, and she happened to catch Ramona in the process of moving on from her. I feel like this is partially why she was eager to drop Donavan so quickly, she's likely reached a point when she can tell there's boredom in the relationship & has a sense of when things are beginning to end. She might've jumped the gun in this case because he really did seem to love her. This weakness is going to be her end if Ramona & Donavan succeed in their plan. Matt Bomer said the Countess is Donavan's "dream mother" and he will do anything to get back to her, even if it means enacting a plan with Ramona, but I can see this tragically backfiring in some way, with either his own demise or him furthering Elizabeth's destruction along by helping Ramona even if he's just using Ramona as a vehicle to regain her attention. I also suspect she either had a child, or didn't carry it to full term and might regret it. I think she has some affection for the children she turned, but has also turned off a lot of her emotions because of either a loss or her own maternal disappointment. Plus, hooking them up to dialysis, a process that's so hard on the body as a means for her own survival would mean she would have to shut down emotionally a bit. It reminds me that Gaga mentioned in her THR interview that the characters will explore at how far one will, or can go in the process of just trying to survive. Yeah the pregnancy has to be involved with her abducting these kids. There's definitely something traumatic that happened with her pregnancy/possible child birth. The fact that she only abducts children that have been "neglected" to protect them and care for them has to mean something.
Sister 9,907
I do not understand the rush of getting to the bottom of this show and solving everything instantly. It feels like everyone is running from the start rushing towards the show's ending. It is fun to watch a show and follow along and to be surprised while it is building. When it is over and done with, you will all wish for more and be sad that it has finished. Sit back and enjoy it while we have a lot to look forward to. We already are getting to see Lady Gaga EVERY week, that is unusual in and of itself. I love how it is going, no complaints. It is actually just as the others have been, as far as building a story. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Precisely, this is how we tell a story and captivate the audience, all the great authors have done it like that, from Homer to Dickens, Tolstoy to Asimov. Instant gratification doesn't apply here.
