Chelsea Ake: The manager was found dead in one of the chambers

A salon manager is suspected to have frozen to death after becoming trapped in a cryochamber for 10 hours with a temperature of -115C.

Chelsea Ake was found at the Rejuvenice salon, in Henderson, near Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was in a cryochamber - a device similar to a tanning booth which chills the body to relieve pain - commonly used after exercise by athletes.

The discovery has shocked pals of Chelsea, 24, originally from Hawaii.

Her close friend Shae-Lynn Bee told KSNV News 3: "We believe she was in there but we don't know how it happened.

"I do know that she was alone closing the shop up, and then did go into the machine and apparently it didn't turn off.

"It's very frustrating to know because you know there are no cameras in there. Basically, the only person that does know what happened is Chelsea.

"Chelsea's everything to me. She was my best friend and I'm going to miss her dearly."

On the salon's website, it describes the cryochamber as "a multi-person walk-in device which exposes the patient's entire body to hypercooled room-air".

It adds: "Here up to three people can undergo treatment simultaneously, which is popular with groups of athletes and couples.

"Both devices reach temperatures of about -240 degrees F, and they are equally effective.

"All devices are equipped with numerous safety features and doors are never locked, which allows clients to stop treatment instantaneously at any time.

"The dress code during treatment is minimal, as maximum skin exposure to the cold air is desired."

Police officers investigating the death said that Chelsea may have suffocated.

Cops also said she used the device without any assistance.

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Poor girl, but it'll be interesting to see what really happened and why all the safety features didn't save her....

Did she have to go inside the machine to turn it off? Something like this just wouldn't happen accidentally, i'd hate to think this was a plan of suicide?

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

I agree that t is hard to believe that it was an accident. My first suspicion was that she was murdered, but there're probably no proofs for that. Anyway, I feel very sorry for her family now.
