I'm also a little worried how much more attention the republican debates got over the democratic one tonight. I really hope it's not tilting the public opinion in favor of them. If he had said he wouldn't trust a Peruvian chef with his guinea pig no one would say he is being racist. Huckabee just picked a low hanging cliche, and will be crucified for it.The joke itself isn't half as offensive as the actual practice of slaughtering dogs for consumption, but it's 2015, so criticizing a culture's backward traditions is a mortal sin and distraction from the joyous pastime of criticizing 'problematic' jokes. At that point any culture that practices meat eating holds "backwards traditions."I believe any culture that partakes in the unnecessary slaughter and consumption of animals is backward. However nations like Korea and China are particularly worthy of criticism because they have almost no Animal Welfare legislation. My issue is not with dog meat, but with meat in general. There is simply no comparison between the United States and Korea when it comes to which nation offers more protection for the human treatment of domesticated animals.
