Pope Francis said government workers have a "human right" to refuse to perform their duty if they have a "conscientious objection" to it, Reuters reported.

It's as if he takes one step forward, and two steps back. I don't get all this fuzz tbh. Public marriage licenses don't deal with religion tho. I'd get it if the refusal took place at a religious place, like a church, but a public government place where, we the people, pay for it through our taxes? Cmon now!  If the government official does not like to give out marriage licenses to same s-x couples, then why are you working there and why the heck is that official keep getting paid when he/she refuses to do the job? You only see this kind of mess with high paying jobs. Example: If I work at McDonalds and Im a vegan who hates the slaughter of animals, and tell my manager "You know what, I dont believe in humans eating animals. Therefore, I refuse this duty, but I will still show up to work, sit in the office, and I expect to get paid while y'all accomodate my beliefs." Nah, that wont happen. They will just fire my a$$ or schedule me with less work hours until I quit.

He's right guys, tho. Everyone has right of "conscientious objection". 

But the part pope is missing that if a person objects to perform their duty which they get paid for, they should be fired without resignation compensation payment because they chose not to perform their duty due to personal reasons.

PS: I just realized OP gave a similar a--logy, simply one can reject to perform same-s-x marriage; but if they do, they are supposed to be fired.
