Bad Bromance 5,809
I don't think anyone is making it a big deal. It seems as though you can't voice your dislike for something around here without people accusing you of turning something into a federal case. The last time she attended the VMA's she wore a black dress on the red carpet, the two times she attended the Oscars she wore elegant gowns (one of those times wearing gloves, how outrageous), and here she is at the Emmy's in another simple but beautiful gown. Can you remember the last time she wore something truly shocking? The Gareth Pugh sperm witch look, or the Charlie Le Mindu "bird mask" in Berlin? Those of us who are fans of her startling fashion statements haven't been thrown a bone in a long time. I get what you're saying but as @thehanyo said, "It's obviously because she wants all these Emmy voters taking her seriously so she gets nominated and wins next year. And it's working." Gaga wants to be taken seriously as an actress and a musician and in order for that to happen, she has to be able to fit in. If that means she has to sacrifice a few awards shows and red carpets and look beautiful and normal, then so be it. As I said earlier, Gaga has to dress the part if she wants the praise, the acclaim and most importantly, the awards. I think all of us know Gaga wants to rake in the awards and be successful in her career. Unfortunately, something's got to give so she will have to tone down some of her more outré fashion choices for certain awards shows. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me. SKANK 14,288
I think I get your point, but she can't shock everybody 24/7 like she did during 2009-2011. She was dressed as a torn plastic bag while wearing alien wig and make up literally a week ago... C2C era just ended and her vision for it was all about being her classy, elegant, Lady Gaga side, and even then she dressed crazy at times. Pretty sure there were more, but I'm lazy to look up them all. Most of those outfits (with the exception of that messy/grotesque Linda Perry costume) were to worn during the ARTPOP promotional cycle, which was my point, it's been a long while since she has embraced radical fashion. I understand her motivations completely, I just don't like it, at all.

SKANK 14,288
And I understand you, too. Can you post a picture of an outfit that you wish she would've worn to the Emmys tonight? It was the sheer anticipation of what Gaga would wear that made watching the red carpet such a joyful experience, so if I post an image that wouldn't really be the point. I personally prefer radical and avant-garde fashion, something like the designs of Leigh Bowery or Nick Cave. Like...if she wore a wig made of cotton candy with some Mexican kids on leashes behind her, snacking on her hair, as a comment about Donald Trump...I would be happy. I get what you're saying, though. I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

I get what you're saying, though. No I get it, what she wore was totally appropriate for the event, but that is why I don't like it...I'm not interested in people conforming to the appropriateness of situations. I'd rather her stick out like a sore thumb then blend in with the army of pretty actresses.

I also love it when Gaga wears things as a social commentary like the meat dress and the fat dress that she wore when the media was criticizing her weight gain. But there is a time and a place for those types of outfits. I think she feels like the Emmy's or the Oscar's aren't her territory. She is a guest and she wants to act proper and discrete.
