This was just a hotel, but it was to make place for new settlers, so don't act like they're above it

The two are linked. Israel makes a choice to free money for internationally illegal purposes & to freeze money for schools that tutor the best non-Jewish students in the country, preferring schools who don't teach their students skills that are basic for a well-rounded Western education.

And there are other parallels you can draw so I don't think it's off-topic.

yeah because Israel is the worst country ever. Most of middle eastern countries don't even allow other religious practices or even conversions. But the bad guy is always Israel.

I think that's because the country's representatives (and defenders) always run around with this idea that Israel is an enlightened country that supports equality, is tolerant, is secular, modern,... When people see evidence of the contrary it's only natural that they're gonna be insulting.

I think it's well known that Arabs are not that privileged in Israel. (Still more than Jews in Arab countries though)

I don't understand, are you saying that because it's well known there shouldn't be any outrage against it?

And actually, the Israeli constitution (or whatever it is) claims that there will be absolutely no discrimination based on race etc. etc. so even if it's well known it's still illegal on their own terms. I didn't forget Netanyahu's proposal to make all Arabs second rate citizens.

If the state was doing this to all non state system school including jewish orthodox school...well I wouldn't really complain, if it's a secular country I don't even see why religious school should get funding like state school (I am not sure though if Israel is secular like we are in France secular) but clearly again orthodox jewish get privilege again among many others (no army service for example...how fair is that? )

Ok I would say depends who you are. Israel can be a very nice country to live, I have been there and so far it's my favorite place after living 4 other countries BUT if you cross the check point and see Palestine you can see who gets the system unfortunately...

I would also say that not all minorities are oppressed in Israel, there is an issue with Palestinian we know that well but many minorities lives there without trouble, I can't speak for education clearly but it isn't a black and white situation and even if a lot of things happening there are f*cked up let's not portray it like they are evil. Their government is f*cked up but can we judge all citizen base don that? Including the ones that certainly didn't vote for it?

You're not the only one to question the gap between the military budget and the education budget in Israel. It doesn't only affect the Arab community, it affects the Jewish community as well. All of the Israelis as one.

However, you're saying as if the entire military budget is being used for internationally illegal purposes and that's simply wrong. Without all this budget, Israel would've been erased from the world map by now. There is a reason for this budget. 

Believe me, we all would've preferred a lower military budget but we aren't the ones who decide unfortunately. You'd have to ask the thousands of terrorists and enemies Israel is surrounded by to stop first. 

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has nothing to do with this at all. 

This doesn't rule out the fact that I hope this issue will be solved soon. There is an unfair finance division in Israel and I  truly hope the minister of education in Israel, Naftali Benet, will fix this before it gets even messier.

Which would be: Europe and the U.S. finally punishing Israel for decades of illegal conduct, BUT the U.S. will never allow it because Israel is an important ally and Europe will never act on its own for such a major decision so the situation is just trapped.

The only thing I can think of that would help is public pressure from U.S. & Europe citizens.
