Fame Romance 10,517 Posted September 1, 2015 Share Posted September 1, 2015 I can't beliebe Billboard gave it 3/5 stars, and gave 2/5 stars to Melanie Martinez' album (which I haven't listened to but I bet it is way better than that... thing), I listened to the first 2/3 songs and I had to stop because I was feeling disgusted. There's some rather beautiful tracks on there, you just have to hunt for them, like treasure. I couldn't believe I was getting emotional listening to Pablow The Blowfish as it started out like a stupid comedy track but it's actually kinda sad for anyone who's ever lost a pet. There are other songs that could have been improved a little bit more to get them passable, but the majority of the album isn't actually that bad. It's a solid 2.5/5 for me. If it was shortened down to a 12 track album length composed of my favourites, it could have been a 3/5 and seeing as there were 9 tracks I liked the best, if it had pulled a Gaga and only had 8-9 tracks, it would've been a 3.5/5. It goes to show that making a short album can be better as it eliminates filler and ups the overall quality of the album.I would have had crazy respect for her if she'd performed Cyrus Skies, Lighter or Evil Is But A Shadow at the VMAs. Those tracks showcase the absolute best of the album and need more attention and it could help the public's perception of her. But like I said before, she chooses to display only the most shocking parts of her work for ratings and attention and it's a real shame. Dooo It does not represent this album at all and she made a big mistake using it as the catalyst for people to start interest in the album. A lot of people won't bother listening to it now because its lead single was so terrible, as was the performance that illustrated it. If she had performed Evil Is But A Shadow instead of Dooo It, people would have been slayed. That song is just haunting and so different from everything else you hear right now. And that would have been far more shocking than getting up to her usual antics. I really thought this overly raunchy thing was just a phase. I think Pablo is a mask for a lost lover. The third verse when she breaks down really gets to me. She's basically saying if the fish found love in the ocean she set him free in then he was better off without her... thats very relatable to anyone who had to let someone go. my other favorites are BB Talk, Fweaky, I Forgive Yiew, Lighter, I Get So Scared, Space Boots, and I like the closing song Twinkle Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
