Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel to be honored for LGBT rights work

The couple will receive an honour at the GLSEN’s Respect Awards in October. The organisation confirmed to People magazine that the couple, who have both done work for the LGBT community, will receive the Inspiration Award. Executive Director at GLSEN, Dr Eliza Byard told People the couple “are two vocal and committed allies to the LGBT community who are also devoted to charitable works that improve the lives of youth.” Dr Byard went on:  “[They] have consistently been visible and committed allies.” Biel and Timberlake wed in 2012, and welcomed their son Silas Randal back in April.

Past recipients Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder, as well as Jim Parsons and his boyfriend Todd Spiewak, will also attend the awards. Hollywood couple Timberlake and Biel earlier this year hired two gay nannies to care for their new baby. Timberlake has in the past said that he was “stoked” New York had introduced marriage equality for gay couples, saying he was proud the state had “the balls to stand up for what’s right”. He was also said to be taking the suggestion that he reprise his role as Elton John in the latter’s planned biopic “very seriously”.
