ALX 170
Quite honestly, whether this "Roar" + "Prism" campaign has been orchestrated by Katy or the Label, I find it to be quite tacky. For some reason, and it may be my alligence to Gaga, It seems overly obvious that this was designed to hurt Gaga's "Applause". It seems rather ironic that Katy waited until news of "ARTPOP" and "Applause" surfaced to promo and announce her dates. I have never witnessed another Artist do this to another Artist. As for the single, I really don't care whether it blocks "Applause"....I believe that regardless of success, it will be the superior song. that's two opposing labels pushing out two highly anticipated records at the same quarter to cash in. both have to spend way less on promo because the media will splash both names and titles around so much

VioletGaGa 1
WTF is the cat eating? The cat was eating the mask from Katy's ET video(one with feathers) and the snippet didnt get me pumped it sounds like meh. & 1 thing is different between Katy and Gaga this era. Gaga is embracing her past and revisiting her painful past, Katy is Basically trashing her most successful eras, get that Grammy while your at it :derpga:

ThisGuyTony 29,337
The media is the one who's pitting them against each other... Anyways, does anyone know what time "Roar" will be released? I hope it's at 12:00 AM EST so I can download it here where I live at 10:00 PM! :excited2:

She could've waited until mid-Sept to announce the album release

She could've waited until mid-Sept to announce the album release i agree again. gaga shouldn't have announced it so early. i can't say i wish she hadn't, because i'm officially hyped, but still. i don't think katy's team was planning on releasing the information so close to gaga's...it was a coincidence. Mills 446
Love the new video, but not the snippet at the end. But nevertheless, it sounds like any other single of her - a radio smash hit it will be.
Mister G 10,084
Regardless of the business savvy marketing strategy, I feel that it is disgusting to try and pit two opposing artists together like a war. That's the media's fault really. I don't think most people knew about Katy's new material coming out until her superfans started talking about it and the media started reporting on it because of that. I doubt the record lables really did anything to purposely pit the 2 against each other. This is pretty much turning into Britney Spears VS Christina Aguilera PT 2; The Lady Gaga VS Katy Perry edition. Ultimately what I observed in that instance was that Britney and Christina had music out at the same time, the labels didn't really do much but the media splashed names all over like paint to get people talking, anticipating who would make the next move and how they would execute. The sad part is that in that instance also...well we already know whose music career is still relevant. Not saying it'll have the same effect, but I honestly feel like ARTPOP and PRISM respectively will either make or break them. After hearing the snippet though, I'm actually excited to hear the whole thing (although I get vibes of a slower song like Wide Awake and something along what Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus just put out recently).
