Vernier 3,786 Posted December 20, 2013 Share Posted December 20, 2013 mess. every acoustic performance she consistently nails. she obviously has vocal talent--anyone denying that is absurd. when she dances or has more to the performance, yeah, her voice sounds worse and sometimes she has bad performances. but when it's her and guitar, she is amazing. But even when she doesn't dance and maybe all she has to do is walk around a bit, she already sounds off and out of breath, what kind of weak technique? I could understand if her vocals deteroriate when she has to dance, but she doesn't even have to dance, just move a bit and she sounds awful. This was a nice performance and sounded lovely but as far as acoustic goes it's hardly Joni Mitchell now is it? Katy isn't an unplugged acoustic singer because she wouldn't be nearly as successful in that medium. mess. every acoustic performance she consistently nails. she obviously has vocal talent--anyone denying that is absurd. when she dances or has more to the performance, yeah, her voice sounds worse and sometimes she has bad performances. but when it's her and guitar, she is amazing. I disagree, many of the one's I have seen are mediocre at best. I will admit that this is a good performance but this is the best one I have seen from her tbh. DMTT 160 Posted December 20, 2013 Author Share Posted December 20, 2013 She can 100% flawless? ok, i'm the Music Director of my college's a cappella group. i know vocal talent and vocal ability, and i'm always honest when someone sounds bad or messes up. katy has a lot of bad performances, and i'll always admit it. there was not one bad thing about this performance; it was great in every single aspect. she sounded wonderful the entire performance. She actually belts or essentially screams in-pitch for her big notes. That's why her sound is so unique and powerful, but it's also why her voice and ability to be in-tune are unreliable. But this vocal was nice. She needs to do more things like this and she probably wouldn't have such a bad rep as a singer. Yes it wasn't an outstanding performance but it's not like there was anything wrong with this vocal...
