RabbitHeart 793
I thought her vocals were nice. They were shaky towards the beginning, but they got better as she went on. It was just...not interesting. The dancing before the costume change looked like something my high school's glee club would come up with after the change, it got better though. But those costumes after the change shoulda just stayed in the suits and ripped the face masks off or something. And Katy, gurl, you can't just stand in one place for most of the performance. You ain't no Adele. Go move around or something

Anyhow obviously KP doesn't count her effing teenage gospel album I mean come on why should she? It's her third. The Fame, Born This Wy, and ARTPOP. The Fame Monster (EP), Red & Blue (EP), and all other releases have been mixtapes, EPs, and remixes.
StrawberryBlond 14,368
I don't think it should count because... 1. It was recorded under a different name. 2. It goes completely against Katy's image and music genre that she's been portraying ever since she got famous. 3. It was on a Christian label, which wouldn't have accepted her if she was making the music that she is now. 4. As it was made on a very small, indepedent label, it wasn't promoted properly and no one knew it existed outwith Katy's inner circle. 5. Sales were atrocious, with just over 100 copies sold altogether and I'm sure 50% or more were purchased by Katy's relatives, friends and everyone from her parents church. 6. The label went bust literally months after the album was released and with that, production and distribution ceased. Some indie artists who went mainstream later have gone through this route. I don't count Lana Del Rey's original release for the same reasons as Katy's. Neither do I count Lucy Spraggan's. The only one I do count is Infinite by Eminem. It actually sold 1000 copies and is highly sought after by rap listeners and I can't say the same for many artists indie efforts. The way the fame game is played is that as soon as you're signed to a major label, that's when your career starts. Your albums are only counted if you stay on indie labels for your entire career. But once you've hit the big time, anything you made before that isn't worth tuppence. ...But really? 100 copies? Even Heidi Montag's album sold more than that. But once you've hit the big time, anything you made before that isn't worth tuppence. ...But really? 100 copies? Even Heidi Montag's album sold more than that. This! All the bolded parts! Lana fans don't count Sirens as a Lana album (that would made BTD her third album) because it was recorded under the name May Jailer as far as we know. Also it was never released so :v AKA is debatable because it is made under the name Lana Del Rey and was re-released shortly for a while. But yeah. For Katy Perry as a person, her debut does count. For Katy Perry the artist/brand, it doesn't. The same thing applies to Red & Blue. It was made under the name of the Stefani Germanotta Band, not Lady Gaga, and it wasn't released by a major label, so it doesn't get counted under her list of EPs. It is a work made by the same person, but not the same name, so you can't really say it's a Lady Gaga album. Nicki Minaj also has three mixtapes that aren't counted among released works. Marina has the homemade Mermaid vs Sailor and the mysterious Give Me The Money, the authenticity of which is debated. They still don't really officially count. They do in one sense, but not another... so I don't blame Katy for ignoring her first album since she basically took on a different identity when she became Katy Perry and started doing completely different music with a major label. Wasn't Heidi Montag relatively well known when her debut came, though? I mean, famous celebrity versus nobody. I sold like twenty copies of my homemade album. All of them being to friends and family.
