hmm okay that was random lol

She was burning her blue California Girls wig to show that this new era isn't just a Teenage Dream 2.0 rehash. it's going to be different.

Don't try and get smart with me, son.

You don't need a degree to tell that with what Katy has out right now, she'd never be considered an icon and the only thing she'd be remembered for would be her 5 #1's from Teenage Dream which equals to that of Michael Jackson's Bad. However as we all know, she got that by releasing generic sh-t that the radio would so play over something Gaga released from Born This Way.

Which brings me to my next point, you're right when you say that the dark theme is not owned by Gaga. Except that what I meant was Gaga's transition from TF/M to BTW and not being dark in general. And I still don't consider what Gaga does 'dark', it's art and people know it. This new stuff Katy's trying to pull off is not working for her, which is why it looks so forced because it doesn't even look dark at all. She's probably gonna find a way to make it commercial and generic to make it sell (the single).

Born This Way was Gaga's third studio album (considering that the perception of The Fame Monster made the extended play seem like one). Prism is going to be Katy's third published studio album. Gaga and Katy are both in an early stage of their careers.

While I agree that Katy's last singles were pitched for radio, I have to disagree with you about her future. I do not know if you know Katy's road to fame, but in case you do not; Katy has been through as much rejection of personal creativity as Gaga. Interscope has faith in giving Gaga the artistic freedom that she wants and needs. However, Katy's team does not. The songs that really mean something to her did not get the chance of becoming a single (except for Firework and I Kissed a Girl). If Prism is going to be full of darker and more mature songs (a la Who Am I Living For?), then who knows where she will be in a few years?

Furthermore the transition from Teenage Dream and Prism may seem forced, but remember, this was just the very first teaser of her new sound and image. I do not know what it takes to make Katy more appealing, artistically honest and serious to you guys, but what I do know is, that Katy has every damn right to grow up musically and visually without being accused of copying and just acting.

I'm LOVING Unconditional, It Takes Two, Bad Photographs and Prism as song titles, but Double Rainbow sounds super...disgusting lol

And I'm sort of nervous for Roar, since it's a really...weird title...but idk what it's about. Bonnie and Katy said its mature, so well see

Gaga is Life

It's all very interesting to see how Prism works out for her. I for one am very looking forward to hearing it :excited2: But it feels awkward watching Katy being all serious like this when I'm so used to her being light and fun.

I'd be interested to see what a pop rock Katy could do, but I wouldn't expect anything above the likes of Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. No doubt she will find a way to be mainstream with such an unpopular style of music but that will come down to marketing, not amazing music.

She'd flop with pop rock.  Way back when she first moved to LA to get famous, pop rock acts like Avril were huge as I'm sure you can remember.  When she got signed to her label, they forced her to completely change her style to a carbon copy of Avril.

Basically this entire project failed and the record label punished Katy by keeping her under contract while refusing to release any of her work or allow her to promote.

One day a representative from Capitol Records stumbled upon Katy and realized how this other label completely trashed her career.  In short, the woman illegally stole all the Katy files from the label and got Capitol on the case.  Capitol took over her career and made her a super star while retaining Katy's quirky style.

It's not the fact that this community doesn't want to see Katy thrive and actually do something with artistic freedom, because that would actually shut a lot of Monsters up that keep saying she's only releasing shallow and radio-friendly songs. It's the entire coincidence of the release dates being so close to Gaga's and it's all about change and experimentation, I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.

It Takes Two makes me think of the song by Seduction they used in a lipsynch for Drag Race and Bad Photographs makes me think of Rihanna's song. I won't even address Double Rainbow since memes aren't cute
