Gagz 2,572
Target does this with every CD that is available digitally first. It's no big deal, nor is it unexpected.
Checkers 3,515
THEY ARE PRESSED CAUSE THEY DIDNT GET THE EXCLUSIVE THIS TIME lol this
zexion_armando 241
I would too. I don't even care for exclusives, but the fact that it launched digital first with no physical release alongside is horse****.
RAMROD 104,857
LOL pressed. TARGET can seethe. Gagz previously cancelled their deal with BTW anyway cos of supporting anti gay groups. JbGaga 2,261
I mean it makes sense cause of the videos on the CD people might not buy the cd. but I feel like they could carry a few in each store and it wouldn't hurt..... The would probably need to buy a large amount though...
Haroon 49,685
But aren't most albums available digitally before they are physically? Like ARTPOP and some other albums were available on iTunes to download before it was possible to go into a store to buy them
Gov Hooka 8,008
What the hell is Target trying to do? lose money. :jinglebell:
Bebe 16,930
They would make money by stocking Beyonce's album but they are pissed that they didn't get to take advantage of first week sales and hype. They don't want this becoming a trend because physical CD sales will deteriorate a little. This is a statement/warning by Target tbh. A major retailer telling the music industry that they are pissed. I remember a lot of anger towards Amazon by CD retailers when they sold Born This Way for 99c. They effectively stole customers from them. This is a "You are going to take some sales away from us by not letting us stock your album first week? Well we will return the favour and take sales away from you by boycotting your album in our stores." sort of thing.
ryhanna 3,507
The definition of pressed, right here.
Arturo 40,746
But aren't most albums available digitally before they are physically? Like ARTPOP and some other albums were available on iTunes to download before it was possible to go into a store to buy them Well yeah, but the CD is available the next business day which is usually like 9 hours later when the store opens up again. It's not a significant gap. Beyonce was an exclusive digital release.
DrewStevens 5,249
Beyonce won't be really affected, neither Target. They have many things to sell.
CharlesReyna 0
Target has 5% of the music sales market. Not huge but also not insignificant.
HernanMinogue 1
f Target! I recently got caught shoplifting there lol so I wont be buying the physical copy of 'Beyoncé' there haha
RAMROD 104,857
Also not first time for TARGET, they were also refused to sell Channel Orange before. Stores for homophobes tbh. A little ironic since, TARGET DOES carry WATCH THE THRONE by Jay Z and Kanye. When it was exclusively released digitally before. Double standard, I see. What Target fails to realize is that physical copies flop regardless, so they're stupid for not getting the little bit of sales they wouldve gotten by carrying the album..
