MonsterMum 2,532
I seen this great video I thought I'd share with you guys. If you are one of those people that mention here that they have no idea what tones and keys are etc this might this explanation might help you why people think she's a great vocalist other then "she sounds so good" (looking at you @Haroon ) He does not explain all terms that he uses in this video so I made a small list so you know what he means exactly: Staccato: short notes, they almost sound snappy, pointy but with a lot of expression (opposite of Legato where notes follow each other fluidly) Marcato: the word kinda says it, marcato = "marking" as in emphasising. It's more intense, pushy way of singing on each note Arpeggio: is a group of notes which are played one after the other, added either going up or going down. Metallic: doesn't mean you sound like robot beep bop bop. A metallic voice will always have a large amplitudes and is light yet aggressive and sharp. Crescendo: A gradual increase in the volume or intensity of sound, best example given in the video with Edge of Glory. Timbre: tone color Melisma: Singing more than one note to a single syllable of text. To recognize subtle, simple melisma is to speak a word in the lyric that is being sung without singing the notes, then count the notes that are sung during that word. If the spoken word has fewer syllables than notes to be sung, the sung word contains melisma.

Sukkiri Applause performance, from the top of my head, just watch it first :)Oh I know it isn't all studio versions, I edited my comment. It's just strange to explain her 'staccato ability' and other things based solely on the studio versions. You will never please everyone.
Jjang 2,262
I've always been fascinated by her studio vocal layering, especially how she blends them with the instrumental. A talented musician indeed.
djBuffoon 12,123
Love this! Yet another perspective on what makes her a superior vocalist, onstage and in studio (not that anyone here is surprised).

Diamond Heart 4,400
i just watched the whole video. Thank you so much for posting this! As someone who has absolutely no idea about vocals (in the technical sense) this was incredibly interesting and informative Gaga's voice "GGD IS NOT FOR YOU" - Admin

Well I don't think she only a good studio singer so I think it's valid, we all know she's capable of sounding live the same as in the studio. It's more layered in a studio but doesn't take anything off the technical aspect.
