giskardsb 12,565
Born This Way is definitely NOT in B Major. Try F# or G-flat major. That's far more accurate musically speaking. EDIT: I understand that in terms of the scale of notes used, it may match B Major technically speaking, but trust me, it's F# or G-flat major. Why? In terms of the chord progression, the I chord (that's "one chord") is F# Major. The IV-chord is B Major. The E-major chord is a diminished VII, which is sometimes used instead of a normal VII for a different musical effect. These 3 chords work well together in the progression, and that's why I bet Gaga and her producers decided to do the song this way. I'm going to disagree on this one. To me it sounds like B Major, just because a chord is played first does not make it the I chord. To me, the B Major chord sounds like where it resolves, so that basically the verses use a V-IV-I progression. F#, E, and B are all diatonic to the B major key and comprise the V, IV, and I forms, so B Major seems the obvious choice. Note also that you are incorrect in saying that the E major is a diminished VII in F#, it would have to be an E#dim chord, and of course by definition an E-Major chord is not diminished anyway. If you want to insist on the F# as the I chord, it'd be more correct to say that the song is written in the modal scale F# Mixolydian, which has the exact same key signature as B Major since it is derived from it by starting at the V, ie, F#. but I'd call it B Major. The sheet music available at musicnotes.com also shows the key sig as B Major.

If Yoü and I also uses the chord progression as BTW for the verses, can it still be viewed as V-IV-I progression (thus classified as D major)? And if the pre-chorus+chorus has a different progression (as BTW is the same throughout, while Ü&I is not), would it still be viewed as D major? Or A major? Sorry it's just been scratching my head for a while. 3 points in and ready for more

Sorry it's just been scratching my head for a while. It all depends on what the chords are and the tonal center. According to sheet music on musicnotes.com again it's in A Major with a A-Bm-D progression on the verses, or I-ii-IV in the scale of A Major, so not the same as BTW. Looks pretty clear that the root note is A in the melody as well. It also depends on if a song is strictly "diatonic" or not, which means that all the chords are natural members of the key. You and I looks to be pretty much straight up A-Major though.

Doily Skull 260
I used the search and nothing popped up, but I'm trying to do a fanmade Wunderland instrumental, but something isn't working right with the time signature. I know the key, and I know the tempo is 142. But for some reason 4/4 isn't working for me. Any thoughts? ~staying stupid through my holy days~
