I don't think it's a big priority in anyone's life, but we are here to discuss pop culture and this is a part of that. No need to take everything so seriously

Even in pop culture, this sort of thing is ridiculous. And people take chart positions waaaaay more seriously than my chastisation of it, lol.

Let's not pretend like people don't meltdown and cry about chart positions and take them way too seriously. Not to name any members but there are a good handful that come to my mind :hunty:

Tbh I think there are more important things to worry about than the Billboard chart position of a Britney/Iggy song. Not to mention the charts are determined by marketability rather than quality for the most part, as much as we'd like to validate our tastes in music in this way. Being away from GGD has really taught me that in the scheme of things, music is music and I couldn't give any less of a **** whether or not this singer is SLAYING and DRAGGING that generic ho. Like, no. The fact that music should be therapeutic and people always seem to get their panties in a knot over it is really backwards imo. I could only /wish/ an Iggy song's chart position was my primary source of concern in this life.

Not to derail your topic, js

I agree with both of your sentiments.

To get truly upset or serious over a song's chart position is laughable- there are indeed more important things in life.
But only focusing on truly important things would be a very tiring and depressing life for many.

It's good to discuss non-important things and hobbies, but it's also essential to keep those things in perspective, remembering that outside of this pop culture cult there is a huge world with so many things happening that deserve our attention when we step outside of this hobby.

OT, though - I still haven't even listened to the song.

Born To Slay

I also wanna point out that Till The World Ends debuted at 20 with 117k but with radio, the video and some performances the song went on to sell 2.9 and become her second biggest hit (later bumped down to third by S&S) since her breakdown. The song is selling just 17k more then Pretty Girls first week and is probably only debuting slightly higher on the charts. So if TTWE can debut with similiar numbers and go on to be a big hit, then we should not count out Pretty Girls yet. Especially because the song is doing well on radio, has the video out tomorrow (which can help sales and streams) and has a major performance coming up. Give it a chance.

Exactly. I just think some of these things aren't healthy or necessary worries, but that's my opinion. Like, music is a healthy thing and getting worried about its release date maybe, but when people go into full fledged heated debates or actively spend time hating on other artists obsessively, it gets out of hand and starts reaching unhealthy levels.

OMG I hope you are right though

It would be nice to see Taylor and Britney slay the summer together now that we can't count on Rih anymore
