Yes ! I'ms sure. :queenga:

But radio couldn't play it cause they were all paied by Kats Purry's label to play Black Horse/This Is How We Do instead :lolly:

It was played a lot by a major station here in the UK and it still flopped :dies:

Really, which? I only heard it on Radio 1 once and that was out of courtesy for the gaga interview lol.

It's a hit to me, one of my favourites. Perhaps it was better suited to the EDM peak, but she did very little promo.

It's too complex to be a hit. The hook is simple, but the subject matter is not.

Look at Outside by Ellie Goulding/Calvin Harris, it's super simplistic and repetitive.

Love Me Like You Do is also simple and straightforward.

That is what the radio looks for primarily.

No chance, the GP didn't like it. The GP and the fans have completely different taste...

Well of course, any song would be a bigger hit if it was played on the radio more. The two go hand in hand.

I say yes, even though the song isn't very radio-friendly compared to several other songs from ARTPOP. There is a clear bias against Gaga on radio these days.

However, I would think that in order for it to receive more airplay, the video would have to be a huge success, which it sadly was not. Look at This is How We Do. The video has more views than Applause despite being considered a "flop" and it did get decent radio play (duh, because it's Katy. The only Prism song that really got subpar airplay was Birthday, apparently in part because of its video). I didn't hear it nearly as often as Roar or Dark Horse but I heard it a handful of times and still hear it every now and then. So if the GUY video was the deserved success it should have been, then the song easily could have done better on radio and thus better in general. Also see Wrecking Ball. It wouldn't have been near the radio hit it was if it weren't for the video.

Radio could have at least given it a chance, but because it's Lady Gaga, nope. :coffee: I never heard it even once, and all my requests for it were denied. Apparently New York's most popular Top 40 station Z100 only played it once when they were interviewing Gaga about the song and that was it.

I'm always interested in theories about this because G.U.Y does sound very radio friendly to me. I'm very perplexed that it didn't do well as a single. And the video is very well liked too.

All I can think of is that maybe because of the D.W.U.W. deal and the heavy production on the song might have turned people away? Most people I know didn't have a clue that Gaga released anything after D.W.U.W, and certainly knew nothing about G.U.Y.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Why the hell are so many people saying the GP was over Gaga? She released 1 damn video before G.U.Y. came out after she had been on a break for like 2 years. It's in no way like BTW when indeed people were over seeing her everywhere. Anyways to answer the question no. ARTPOP was dead and we all knew it. There's a reason she put 3 songs in that video, she knew it was going to be the last ARTPOP related thing besides the tour. And I don't blame her, after so many things went wrong who was still here for it tbh.

No, it wouldn't have. It never should have been a single in the first place. It's honestly kind of boring aside from the pre-chorus and outro. Gypsy and some other ARTPOP tracks had so much more potential. The video was killer though, so I'm cool with it.

Maybe as a lead single.

Remember that radio was slow to pick up Applause but they were eventually forced to because Applause had the benefit of pre-album fan sales. Had Applause not been the lead, it would've flopped too. Radio was already prejudiced against "too noisy" by that time. Both might've smashed in 2011 or 2012.
